I guess my point is that an increase in police force weaponry normally follows an increase in violent crime, so if the police are getting more weapons then things are getting worse for us.

Saddening. The police are upping their ante, it will be unsurprising if the gangs do so in kind for ‘protection’ or whatever other excuses they use to justify their actions. Due to the high costs of bringing in illegitimate guns this will probably promote even more and harder drug pushing, greater crime and greater turf warfare to fuel the costs.

We’re descending into a bitter depressing spiral. So much for Bermuda as the peaceful and tranquil island it once was.

I think the Police would take exception to your description of these devices (That being the ASP and the Arnold 26″ Batons). Those in possesion of these tools are trained in methods that should prevent any kind of head injury.

ahh i wouldnt quite say that kevin i do agree with the “you would think”, but while we have this great arsenal, we havent really used any of it at all. Baton’s mostly, then spray and tazer. everything else hasnt seen action

With that kind of arsenal you would think there was no crime at all in Bermuda! I guess the opposite is true — the more heavily armed a country’s police force is the more violent crime the country has. Sad days in Bermuda.
