That’s not entirely true… I think it is 4 megs down and 1 meg up. It all depends on your ISP. CableVision can give you a T1 line, but if your ISP is limited to a certain speed, then you’re only going to get that speed.

Thanks cv h it’s always nice to know that I’m not going nuts ..
I’ve had my isp (Transact) on the line on more than one occasion and done a full diagnostic with them . And they’ve proven that everything at their end is a ok .. but still dead slow numbers .
BTW , a shoutout to the good folks at Transact …

If it’s anything like their regular cable service expect outages and excuses as to why it doesn’t work properly. 100% Digital signal, what a joke.. Their picture looks like shiyte all the time, upgrade to a dvr box which is still 800 dollars by the way after what at least 5 years and you might get a decent 720P siganl..

Did you get it both ‘up’ and ‘down’ ? It’s a supposed to be a symmetrical service. Keep an eye on the figures as you might have tested on a lucky ‘high’ moment .

I know BTC customers who are paying for 3.5 meg and on a good day get numbers like .12 and 1.3 …

CV subscriber you are correct the ISP do give what you pay for as a former employee i can vouch for that. 99% of the lose of speed is in transmission.
That said C vision is 100 times better the BTC.

i did the speed test just now n got over 4meg i have cablevision n logic as my isp. maybe it depends on your line.

I’m paying for 4meg through my ISP and they say there’s no problem at their end. When CV checks out the line you get a lot of techno waffle and a ‘well , let’s see how it goes’ response. (not slamming the CV service guys , I’ve always liked them)

The service comes from your ISP provider – BCV or BTC just provide the pipeline so if you have speed issues you need to be talking to your ISP. And by the way – NONE of the ISPs offer these speeds yet.

Anyone who purchases 8MB now is stupid. None of the ISPs are even offering it out yet…well – according to each of their websites. If CableVision was smart, they would have done some sort of deal with the ISPs so that when the 8MB package was released, the ISPs would be ready to offer it. Everyone in this scenario would benefit from it.

But what do I know about this type of stuff…?

Ever done a speed test to see if your getting what you pay for …? Their 4up/4down for $35 a month is rarely even 50% of that , so if you upgrade to the new service for $20 more you just might start getting your 4meg service …
