350 Minor Millions were built. One for each main dealer. They were all pink (the colour was called ‘rose taupe’) and had the 1000000 badges. This colour was also available on other models but was not too popular!

Mr. Stuart Easton is my good neighbour. I have the good fortune of seeing him drive by on a regular basis. He is the coolest pilot around. He has given my youngest daughter many rides to school as he drops his grandson to Elliot. I’m a great car admirer and my grandfather, Alfred Thomas used to own a Morris Minor as well. So seeing Mr. Easton drive by regularly is like a nice blast from the past.

Funny…when I see a Morris Minor my mind goes back to the day my parents bought a black Morris Minor. At 10 years old, I thought that car was THE ugliest looking vehicle ever manufactured. I was so embarrassed to be seen in that car. My mother who learned how to drive the car, couldn’t wait to pick me up from school…Lawd, why, what did I do to deserve this?

Long story short, when my parents split up, thankfully he took the car with him!

I have been driving minors in the UK for 50 odd years and presently have 1972 woodie, one of the last minors made. I also have a 1950 saloon split windscreen sidevalve engine and headlights in the grille. (the headlights later had to be moved up into the wings to comply with US regulations). I am very intrigued by the fact that the Bermuda minors have the slats in the grille vertical rather than horrizontal as normal on minor 1000s. Were all minors imported into Bermuda like this ?

There are loads of them still running around. Saw a Morris Minor ‘glass van’ parked on a hill in San Francisco last June. There is an estate ‘woody’ wagon in regular use in St Michaels, MD.

Can anyone remember what type of car the undertakers drove? I recall hitching a ride home from school in a car which I thought was a morris ‘woody’ station wagon and getting in the back where the coffin goes.

I remember my Dad taking me to see the millionth Morris Minor one day in the UK. It was pink and had 1,000,000 instead of 1,000 on the trunk lid. Great cars!

Good for you guys. It takes special dedication to keep an old car on the road. I took care of a 1946 car up to 1981. I believe it still exists.

Too bad TCD is not a bit more enlightened in their approach to car ownership. It would be nice to have a newer car as a daily driver, allowing the Classic Car, 25 years old minimum, only to be used on Sundays, Holidays & special events.

You can’t drive 2 at the same time.

My grandfather had a white Morris Minor Estate (yes, one the with the wood trim) with red leather interior . . . It was fab & with the indicators that flew-up & out on the side! He also drove Morris Minors when he was a Sr. Customs Officer too and in the 50s & 60s and, hence, why he bought one on retirement. In those days civil servants had to contribute to the if you were going to use them for private use as well . . . Something this present Government should consider today!
