Thanks all. Let me say that I was pleased with the police response, Boulevard and BAA officials, and the two teams. We can’t always prevent, but we can take a stand.

Yeah, I’m a teenage male who was born here. Never had an incident with a cop beside a traffic ticket (running an amber light).

But I’ve seen first hand the police take advantage of their authority through friends and people on the street.

The cops out there treat you with respect actually. Most cops out in the states have smiles on their faces… AND can weed out suspects of murders in populations 20x Bermudas so quickly.

I am a Rangers fan and my son, I am glad I decided to go to a family bowling event and my son was with me. I would have been very traumatized.

Some you Bermudians really need to make up your minds what you want from the police!! Did you read the information, better yet, the actual title of the article???? The police responded to a “report disturbance” at the game. Two of the four men questioned were detained because they have no respect for the law and couldn’t keep their mouths SHUT!!!! Don’t you think that this is how violence starts??? When you have lack of respect for the law it won’t be long before you start to lack respect for others!! Some of you need a real reality check!!

You are correct they seem to forget Rangers at times.Firstly ref: the incident it was the Parkside wannabees that started to act up with the warwick guys,Swinging belt buckles and helmets like wimps.They had no regards that one guy had his little daughter with him the poor little girl has been tramatized by this whole experience. The little girl was picked up by a woman and comfortered, whilst her mom and dad and other family members were being punched and kicked.Then they tried messing up a car belonging to one of the guys being attacted.when are these bad behaviours going to stop. UM SO GLAD I DID NOT GO TO THE GAME ON THIS NIGHT IT FRIGHTENING OUT THERE.

First of all Im BLACK and BERMUDIAN! I have lived here ALL of my life! Natives is just a saying. You need to chill and dont take everything so literal and read the true message. You know full well aint no Bermudian going to ANY part of the States and carries on to Police as “some” people do here. Actually what this incident shows is that certain factions don’t want the violence to end…When Boulevard played Rangers in the first half of the season at Southampton Oval Rangers Home Field)..at the end of the match they ran to board the bus and jump in their cars..the police were there as they had extra security because it was considered a “high profile” match..nothing “popped off’…why couldn’t the same courtesy have been extended when Rangers played at their (Boulevards) field..where were the Police? How come they showed up only AFTER the disturbance occurred? Boulevard where was the same hospitality that was shown to you? While I understand that the Police can’t be everywhere at once that is one of the places that they should have been deployed to that night..one beacuse of its location and two because of who was playing and their fan base…They need to follow the three P’s..Presence Prevents Problems……

I see now we want the police to be more selective in harassing us, as long as we are not doing anything very bad.

Everyone gets a bike at 16- Why can’t they ride when they want?
Everybody smokes marijuana- So legalize it
Everyone is selling cocaine- As long as we are not shooting anyone
Everyone speeds- So raise the speed limit
Everyone fights at football games- so don’t worry about it
Everyone has sex anyway- give the young children condoms and contraceptives
Everyone gets arrested by the police- nothing wrong with that, just call my mama

I am White- I must have voted for UBP

Perhaps the next thing is that the drinking age should be lowered to 12 as well as the driving age and the age for consensual sex, as long as they are not killing anyone,what’s wrong with that.

Ok—you sound like a person that hasn’t left this rock or possibly a person that migrated to this rock and is suffering from some form of amnesia. Again, this behaviour is global and what takes place in Bermuda is minor when compared to most other jurisdictions.It doesn’t make it right BUT, chill!! The natives comment suggest that you happened upon our shores.

Ian youre an idiot! The real problem is people think they can do whatever they want and say whatever they want to the police and expect nothing to happen to them. Yet that same person wouldnt dare go to the states and carry on the same way. I say they should stop football all together until these guys stop using the game for an excuse to engage in anti-social behaviour. If I was a cop and someone called the police to a fight and I went there to deal with that and when i get there some guy is cursing and carrying on, Id lock his a$$ up too. You dont have to like the police but if they are called because the natives get unruly AGAIN then let them do their job.

To ESA… Possibly for the same reasons that Manchester United, Liverpool, Celtic, Roma and clubs in all of the worlds top football leagues do, they love the game in spite of hooliganism. Surely you don’t think that this is only a local issue, do you? What we experience locally is child’s play when compared to what happens at games in London, Rome, Glasgow, Manchester, Munich, etc etc. And just so you don’t believe that this is a football issue, do a little reading on some of the disturbing fan behaviour that happens on a regular basis at little league matches throughout the US, hockey matches in Canada and so on. By comparison, going to a football match at BAA is a walk in the park.

Police wonder why no respect is shown to them? The majority of cops in Bermuda abuse their authority.

“OH I’M A COP. I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT.”

When I was 12, all I wanted to do was serve for the Bermuda Police department. Now? No way in hell. All the respect I once had for them is gone.

Have they apprehended Mr. Ferguson’s murderer? No. But they waste time going after someone who said some naughty words to them.

Bermuda Police Department, set your priorities and go after the real bad guys.

This is ridiculous. Why weren’t the Police there before this happened.

Poor young men arrested when all they did was call Police to figure out how to pay their fines.

Shame. A police state.
