What you don't quite understand is while the lands is theirs, it is prohibited to be built on. Do you forget that? Those trees are supposed to stay exactly where they are, hence the regulations put in place by the government for the people of Bermuda only to have the government sell out the people of Bermuda. Why do you call them my elected government. I didn't vote for them, did you????

The average care emits 0.88 lb.- 1.06 lbs of CO2 a mile. A healthy tree can only absorb 48 pounds of CO2 a year. With or without the trees on this property we are hugely out of balance with our CO2 production on this island.

Of course there are a huge number of reasons with the SDO should not be approvied but I just wanted to point out that there are many many more problems without ecological mind frame than this. I trust everyone pointing out the oxygen imbalance rely on walking and bicycles, if not perhaps you need to evaluate your own lifestyle before critizing.

Look "2 Sense," you are still totally missing the point! Take Pt. #2 in the original post:

2. The government has spoken – they have made their decision. For whatever reason the PLP has suddenly decided to save the wealthy white man’s club we may never know, but that is what they have decided to do.

Clearly you only read Pt. #1 and didn't read further. Get over yourself and learn to read before reacting. Sadly, this is a done deal. March all you want. Your elected government has spoken for you.

IT IS PRIVATE LAND THAT IS PROHIBITED TO BE BUILT ON!!
So, this is essentially not allowed.
If you were a little smarter, you would know that environmental issues are one OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUES facing our children today. When is your protest for education and violence to be held? Didn't see you state that, or is this something you expect everyone else to do for you because you said so?

Obviously you don't get it - THIS IS PRIVATE LAND! Your children are not allowed or invited to play on this open space - it doesn't belong to you.

I'm not against the environment or saving this land - nor is our future generation my most important cause - you said that, not me. That said, your argument about children and open space is lacking: NYC, Hong Kong...concrete jungles around the world produce productive children all the time.

Obviously YOU DON'T GET IT.
If you did, you would know that the less open space children have DIRECTLY affects the level of social ills of the culture. Did you know that? Why do you expect people to fight for this cause YOU deem the most important all the while you are ignoring the environmental cause which others deem the most important for the future. It is a matter of opinion. A certain sector of the population doesn't deem the environment important enough for the future because of various reasons, that's fine, but don't expect people to deem education important if their children aren't in public school. Do you understand what I am saying here? Your cause is the most important to you, but others have other causes they deem the most important. We all have issues with the government, but they aren't all the same.

I get it, I get it and I applaud your passion but 2 things:

1. Hugging trees vs. Hugging our future generation: where is the passion when we want to save our children from being murdered and their children growing up with no fathers? I understand we are trying to save trees and land, but where is the passion when we need to hug people? Hug people and hug trees.

2. The government has spoken - they have made their decision. For whatever reason the PLP has suddenly decided to save the wealthy white man's club we may never know, but that is what they have decided to do.

Mad Prophet might have an idea there for wednesday. How about a HONK your horn for NO SDO if you are passing on any side of the block around the Cabinet Building?

I know the organizers want the protest to be orderly. That is fine but maybe it is time to look at or neighbours to the west on how to protest. One can be very forceful without being destructive. Being destructive serves no purpose.

I wonder how the organizers would feel towards a 'honk no to SDO' & a drive with lights on on Wednesday to protest. It gives those who may not be able to be at Cabinet a chance to be heard & seen. It could certainly get the Cabinet members attention.

An ecosystem is a geographical area of a variable size where plants, animals, the landscape and the climate all interact together.

The whole earth’s surface can be described by a series of interconnected ecosystems. All living beings form and are part of ecosystems. They are diverse and always changing.

Within an ecosystem, all aspects of the environment (both living things and their non-living settings) interact and affect one another. Every species affects the lives of those living around them.

“Bermuda is another World”

She has different flora, fauna, landscapes and weather.

Bermudians needs to be the voice of the Ecosystem!!!!

STAND UP AND SHOUT, “WE ARE MAD AS HELL AND WE ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE”.

EMAIL EVERY SENATOR,

TELL THEM WE WANT THIS SDO STOPPED NOW!!!

“THE ECOSYSTEMS OF BERMUDA ARE MAD AS HELL AND WE ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE”.

YES FOLKS….SIT DOWN AT YOUR COMPUTERS TAKE A DEEP BREATH…AND TYPE,”

“THE ECOSYSTEMS OF BERMUDA ARE MAD AS HELL AND THEY ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE”.

AND WHEN YOU HAVE SENT AN EMAIL TO EVERY SENATOR.

STAND UP STRETCH OUT YOUR ARMS AND SAY TO YOURSELF,

“I HAVE DONE MY PART”, “I AM PART OF CREATION”, “I AM PART OF THE ECOSYSTEM”

FOR THOSE IN YOUR VEHICLES WHEN YOU DRIVE BY SESSIONS HOUSE ON WEDNESDAY,

WAVE A FLAG AND "SOUND THE ALARM"

CAUSE ANOTHER PIECE OF BERMUDA IS DYING.

TP - Turning Point or Tipping Point
I have a strong feeling that this week’s meeting of the Senate will represent a Turning Point or Tipping Point (from where we may never return) and TP (Tuckers Point) will take on a very different meaning. I recommend everyone reads Eva Hodgson’s letter to the Editor of the 12 March to gain some perspective. For many years I have questioned why The Royal Gazette would continually publish letters written by Eva Hodgson and for a while stopped buying the Paper. The first paragraph of the letter of the 12 March, PLP not a “black party” made them all worthwhile and the remainder of the letter makes sense. I can empathise with the families displaced in Tuckers Town many years ago and gives weight to the rejection of the SDO. For me that is a Turning Point.
What I wish for is that the community sees the protest against the SDO at Tuckers Point as a call for unity. I really would like to see the disenfranchised PLP MP’s like Dale Butler separate from the “PLP political elite” (referred to in Dr Hodgson’s letter) and be joined by both the UBP MP’s and the BDA MPs to form new party (The “T” Party a Party of Unity and Reconciliation). Now that would be a Turning Point!
All three political parties are currently lost so something has to change.
The “T” Party would represent many things (Turning Point, Talbot (one of the displaced families), Tuckers Point, our Tahrir even, however you see it, but not least of which would be Tolerance.
There are many good, capable and tolerant people in Bermuda but we need a seismic change to turn things around and to get the Island back on track. I hope the Island comes out to protest the SDO on Wednesday and demonstrates unity and understanding as described by CURB and makes the rejection of the SDO a “T”urning Point and we can have our own T Party!!

No matter what stipulations have been attached to this SDO the PLP has proven time after time that they cannot be trusted to enforce what was previously aggreed to if it does not suit them.

This SDO is so wrong for so many reasons.

Be on Cabinet grounds on Wednesday. Show up in real numbers. 2000,3000, more. If you care about Bermuda's ecological future or whatever your reason for objecting to the SDO, be there. If you just 'leave it to somebody else' to be there for you the person to blame if it passes Cabinet will be YOU.

It is time to stop the apathy. People have been protesting in Wisconson in subzero weather. Doing it in 70 degree weather, even if it rains, is no problem at all.
