Its guys like these two young dummies that need to be slapped by the law and every hard working Bermudian out there! Come try that crap with me, come on try it……..

We are to blame- we don’t protect the innocence of the child anymore. It should NOT be okay with us that we let their senses be bombarded with negative and violent imagery, they get used to it, and it becomes their world.

It is our duty as parents to protect their minds from violence and atrocity, so that the impact of those things is not lost on them. I screen everything my child watches, reads, or plays with. He isn’t allowed to watch something with violence in it, no blood and guts, no swearing, and as minimal bathroom humor as possible (these days, it’s hard to avoid). Sheltering my child? Yes. And I challenge anyone out there to convince me that raising him without TV, without the constant violent imagery, without violent video games is the wrong thing to do. We need to be even better parents. It’s not enough to both be there, it’s not enough to provide for them, it’s not even enough to take them to church. There’s so much out there that wasn’t when we were kids, so we have to be even more diligent still. Their world isn’t like ours was at their age.

I’ll be damned if I let the media or video games be more influential forces in setting my child’s moral compass than I am. And that’s what happens all too often. Don’t know about this case, but I’ll bet there were many factors…

In any event, our young men are making some crazy choices, they are hurting people, they are being anti-social (here’s the word again) and they are doing illegal things.

It’s not a couple it’s becoming an epidemic here in Bermuda. We have to get to them someway. Westgate is too late!!!!

Some of us as illegal and anti-social as the person above notes just become followers for no real reason??? I know one the yougn men and I can tell you I am scratching my head.

They will have to pay the price no doubt about that. Senseless meaning being a follower instead of a leader.

My comment has nothing to do with the love affection and support these individuals have had from their parents. My comment is directed at two ADULTS that broke the law, and terrorized their victims! That to me demands that there is some social behavior lacking in the individuals that committed the crime.

Life is about choices and I am sure you have made all excellent ones, haven’t you?

There are parents that BTW accept that their child has made bad choices and understand and accept that they have to face the consequences associated with their choices. I know I am one that strongly believes that if you make your bed your lie in it and so do others, that does not mean you cannot love them unconditionally as GOD has taught us to do.

Not wanting in material nor emotional support is what I said. He is loved. BTW, Do you have children; if so do you know what they do all the time or what they have done? Maybe something was missing but there is something missing in a lots of us, including me and probably you too. I did crazy senseless stuff when I was yonger and God I am glad I did not get in troube for it. But I learned and I am glad I did and to be honest there was nothing my parents did that was wrong. I was loved had clothing and shelter. So, not sure why we do the things we do sometimes. Maybe I liked the intensity, who knows. You just never know. It would be harder for a person to understand when you are not that close to the situation to do so.

Just so you know both his parents have been in his life 200% and they are two of the most amazing people I know and so is he by the way.

No, he may not have the equation to turn gas into petrol as you mention above. But he is loved.

This baffles anyone that knows him and his family; he had absolutely no reason or cause whatsoever.

What I did notice this morning is he had numerous support but his co-accused did not. There was noone to be seen to support him.

Not everything is as it appears. He comes from a good home , does not want or need for anything ……………..sometimes your children just make some dumb choices and hang with people that don’t have good intentions and this is the result. You can’t change what has happend you can only deal with it and learn and this I think he will, a hard way mind you, but lesson never the less but much heartache for people that love him. He will no doubt in my mind regret this and I hope he gets to make amends. Thanks for allowing me to express myself.
