Can someone please give an update on this case. This guy was suppose to go back to court on aug 8. I find it hard to believe that nobody has any info about this. $10 million dollar bust and it all just disappears. Either this guy is now rolling over on alot of other people that were involved or he was bailed out like another person heard and he took off, can someone clarify what is going on here..

We have no up-to-date official confirmation of where he is at this present time, but he was outright denied bail at his first hearing. If he reappeared in Court and got bail, the chance of all five media outlets missing it is very low, and its a big case so the fact he got bail would be definitely be reported. He is due to reappear in Court this Monday [August 8] so that will shed light on it.

BERNEWS, I have a question. Is the story correct that there were 100 rounds of 40 mm ammo with the shipment? Is that a typo or incorrect statement? This size of ammo is huge, sort of like grenade size, as I’ve seen from a little Internet research. If true, it would beg the question what someone was going to do with such destructive ammunition.

Was it supposed to read .40 caliber ammo? This would be an entirely different story.

It saddens me to see people making generalisations about any race.
I hope those who posted above about their negative beliefs/ stereotypes can over time learn to see that it is insane to make statements such as ‘white people are evil’.
Of course some white people are evil, I’m white and happy to admit that SOME white people have been responsible for some of the worst attrocities in history-
look at slavery, the Nazis and the nutter who just massacred all those Norwegians.
Unfortunately, evil crosses racial boundaries and there have been some appalling acts by black and asians too.
One last point I would like to make is- if you read propanganda by extremists of any coulour who claim race ‘x’ is evil, bear in mind that they are pedalling these views in order to gain power and for each person who hears this nonsense and subscribes to these views more evil is being introduced to the world.

Let me be quite clear. I am very glad the drugs and ammo are now out of circulation,but since I am pretty sure that what is caught is only about 10% of what is out there, I am not about to jump over the moon about it.
I applaud the police for stopping this particular shipment, but the question arises, how many time before has this person and his un-named henchmen brought in drugs and guns/ammo? Generally, in these type of cases, the police have been watching the person for some time, trying to catch them in an error. It would be very unusual for the police to be able to make such a bust on a first time criminal.
“Vindication” comes when one has said something over and over and not been believed. I think you misunderstand if you think people are “happy someone got arrested simply because he is white.” I am happy that not just black people are getting arrested, because it is not just black people who are committing these crimes. It is true that the cases that are publicized are all black males, but I don’t believe for a minute that only black males have guns. And I know for a fact that black people are not the only ones using and/or importing drugs. The problem has been that the white ones seldom get arrested. For us, it looks like just another instance of institutionalized racism.
Personally, I am beyond saddened by what is happening in our community. Black on black violence is a world-wide phenomenon where-ever there are large black communities. The psychological and sociological reasons for this are myriad and can be debated ad infinitum, but do not bring about peace.
I think it is important for us to have these conversations, as long as it can be done without acrimony. The more we talk, and take the time to correct assumptions, the better we get to understand one another.

But when a black Bermudian is charged/convicted with crimes and reported on Bernews, I don’t see whites celebrating the fact that a black Bermudian was locked up. I am happy when any criminal that is polluting our country and citizens with their products are taken off the streets. Nor do I see people stating that black Bermudians are the source of all our social ills either.
