I remember when I was a kid there was an incentive to recycle. In fact, my friends and I used to collect aluminum cans and our parents would drive us and our aluminum to the recycling plant for cash back. Was great! We'd go to concerts and outdoor events once they were over, collect cans, crush them to fit more in the bags and walk away with substantial coin. Pitt & Co used to have contests where you'd trade in bottle caps for beach towels and umbrellas. We'd collect then too!

Its a pitty, because now people will recycle even less. Who wants to hold on to old tins and bottles for 2 weeks, then maybe miss the date once. There will be blue bags along the road side for weeks because people put them out on the wrong days.Rats will love it.
The biggest problem with recycling here is that blue bags are totally overcharged, even more expensive than regular trashbag. In other countries people get free bags for recycling, marked clearly what should be in the bag and what is a violation.

Damn, missed today's pickup so I now have to hang on to it until the 19th. The rats will be happy. Or I could just put it into a regular bag and put it out with Tuesday's trash.

Why bother recycling at all?

This inconvenience is proudly brought to you by the PLP gover(n)ment.
