Accidental death can be a cause. The baby could have, choked on something, eaten a household chemical, inhaled a household chemical, fallen off of something high… the list goes on. This does not mean that the baby died at the hand of someone. Duh

The caregiver involved is a wonderful woman who loves the kids she watches as if they were her own. She is highly attentive and dedicated to these babies and always has been. I have and would not hesitate again, to put my children in her care. Like previously mentioned, just because the child died while in her care, doen’t mean it was because of something she did or did not do. Please let the investigation take full course and pray that the truth be revealed. In the meantime, my prayers go out to all who feel this tragedy.

Just read his father’s comments in the Bda Sun and if you are able to read between the lines, then you would conclude that it could very well be the caretaker’s fault.
As a mother who has interviewed over 25 caretakers in the quest for childcare I can speak from experience. Too many are doing it for financial reasons. Think about it – 4 children at $1000 a month (no deductions) each is a decent salary and no one knows what goes on once the parents are at work especially when they have babies who can’t tell you a thing.
You don’t have to have a degree, have any skills, deal with a boss or have co-workers ratting you out when you don’t do your work.
It’s a pretty sweet deal and just the same as you have lazy employees who doesn’t do their work properly working next to you, it is easy to be a lazy caregiver with no accountability as long as the babies are clean when the parents show up.

Just curious, what happens when an incase worker, teacher or persons in authority are informed well in advance, but it’s not a child’s turn to look into matters yet, due to their workload, or they don’t see a problem and something happens.
People don’t wanna hear it…

Sadly accidents happen big or small, sometimes a small fall or bump can cause considerable damage even a few days later, so don’t be so quick to judge, the grieving parents are probably so upset and wondering what they or anyone else whom looked after their child could have done to have changed this great sadness

Actually it’s the Police who investigate and then hand the file to the DPP to decide whether charges are to be brought and what exactly those charges are based on what they uncover in their investigations… the fact that a file is being prepared for review by the DPPs office certainly suggests that something is up.

My condolences go out the whole family including the care-giver – who I am certain is having a hard time dealing with this situation. Until the results of the autopsy are revealed do not be quick to judge people.

Black Male, there are several instances where the DPP might investigate the “unnatural death” of a child…crib deaths, asphyxiation or ingestion of a toxic substance being but three. None of us know what the cause of this poor child’s death was, so leave the experts to do their job without finger-pointing and rumour-mongering. I’m amazed at how quickly people jump to conclusions and assume the worst when they know none of the facts.

I’m confused! All of you that are coming down on the day care provider was there any mention of that party being at fault? Did I miss that part of the story anything vould have happened to this child at home or in day care. We just assume no parent is evil enouhg to harm their own kid to such magnitude but it happens. So we can hold our presumptions until their is an actual case and charges have been laid.

So why else would the DPP be preparing a file for review??? The DPP doesn’t “prepare files for review” because of underlying medical issues.

Condolences go out to the family of this little angel. What a horrible, horrible tragedy for any family to have to endure. Heartfelt sympathies and prayers for your strength and comfort in the long days ahead…

As a mother of a 19 month old i can only imagine what this family is going through. My prayers and heart go out to them during this tragic time. I know that there will always be a void but I wish them peace and the strength to make it day by day. As for the caregiver, my prayers are for them as well. Hopefully we find out all the details soon. This can’t be easy for either of them.

To Black Male, How could you make a comment like that without knowing the facts of what was the cause of Death it could have been a underlying Medical issue to which the parents nor his Doctor even knew about.

Black Male (and others here) don’t be so quick to assume this child’s death was a criminal offence. Just because this child’s death was not from natural causes doesn’t necessarily mean a crime has been committed.

OK PPL of Bermuda….First I don’t know or am I connected in any way the sitters or child care providers, BUT the report says they child did not die from natural causes; this may not mean ill-treatment on the sitters part. It may be some unknown medical reason and an autopsy will reveal this. Secondly, there are several good childcare givers who look after children and not just for the money. DO NOT jump to conclusions YET!! You’ll have plenty of time to make your comments and accusations on the matter later. So let the investigation take its course and if necessary charges will be filed.

To the entire Burrows and extended families, my heartfelt sympathy runs deep. I cannot express how painful this must be. I really pray God’s peace and mercy on your lives. Your little angel is with the Father

I can appreciate the emotional rationale to assume that the nursery was as fault, but it is far too early to draw that conclusion. Neither you nor I know what happened and the injuries that caused the death could have happened well before the baby was in the care of the nursery. Either way, a sad story but the horrible situation should not be worsened with assumptions and allegations.

It is a very sad time for the family involved. I don’t know what i’d be like in the same predicament but it must definitely be heart wrenching!!
But I do agree with Sarah, eventhough it was not of natural causes, it doesn’t necessarily mean it was her fault either!!
Those of us who are parents know exactly how quick kids especially the really young ones who are starting to move about can get into things!!!
no excuses but we still need to not judge, especially before knowing all the facts!!!

My condolences to the family and prayers for the care giver. Please do nt assume that it was something the care giver did. There could have been an unknown medical situation. Both the parents and care giver need emotional support and should seek counselling. So be sensitive with your comments.

Care Givers have an awesome task. I was so cautious with our kids I got up many times during the night to check on them. Nothing can bring that precious one back. I pray for strength for all involved.
