Wow, that’s actually quite funny that you might perceive me as a “part of the PLP Political Entourage”. Couldn’t possibly be farther from the truth. Fact is, Smith is at least well-meaning, unlike her predecessor and most of her party. She at least seems to value education in more than the abstract, and is committed to Bermuda, again, unlike her predecessor. It’s an appallingly low bar to say that she’s the best of the PLP, but I think it’s fair.

Keep singing for your supper peoples, a new cast will be installed before april, hopefully Dame is relieved of this by Cog losing at the polls, or growing a spine.

How can someone say the Dame is the best person PLP Member to lead that Ministry? Thats a silly assertion.

Not to worry, my kids are in private school and i am self employed in a sector thats recession-proof, so like everyone else…………… who cares about public schools as they are for the people we’ll exclude anyway.

Well, I know what you mean about the PLP entourage, but not in this case. I can’t imagine ever voting for her or her party, but I do think that a minister visiting a school to motivate children once in a while is a worthwhile thing.

@Billy M………if Dame Jennifer is the BEST the PLP has on offer to run the Ministry of Education and getting public schools up to the standard of a Warwick Academy IB graduate then we have an emergency situation that will require a Gettysburg Address.

Its really amazing how the posts on Bernews are driven by people who are clearly part of the PLP Political Entourage who must support and defend all to keep a paycheck, sad.

Actually, sometimes I am not a great fan of the minister, but I do think this type of thing has a significant value, as did her visits to schools last week for the start of term.

A government minister (of whatever political persuasion) who takes some time to try to motivate school children is doing something worthwhile.

Were you expecting the Gettysburg Address? Give her a break; she’s speaking to school children! Good for her for showing up at a private school. Her predecessor wouldn’t have step foot there. She is the best the PLP has to offer… for what THAT’s worth.
