@ Mr. Sherratt & FIFA REGS

Actually FIFA REGS point has raised more questions than it has answered. I am reliably informed that the Capacity 'Seated' at the NS is 4,000 + as such 3000 + would be approx 75% of tickets sold. It was reported that 3000 + attended Friday nights match so ....??? Having said that it would be nice to get confirmed numbers of actual seats available at the NS.

I would bet that the BFA are reluctant to have the matches televised/broadcast as they rightly would prefer people to come out and support the team and that's understandable but what will happen should 7,000 fans show up ?? As I had previously mentioned FIFA demands that all fans be seated during matches so will the BFA turn away 2000 + fans at the gate? I doubt it.

There has to be a solution out there? Maybe the numbers don't tally up to make it worth their while ?? Obviously there would have to be a desire by the BFA and the service providers to undertake this so come on BFA/providers let us know what it will take to provide this service and or is it just not feasible ??

I wasn't able to attend Friday but I will be there on Tuesday .... many others again will not be able to attend so why not Video Streaming,Radio ?? This is an issue that deserves answers as it could help to raise extra revenue something the BFA & NSC could use I'm sure.

Winnie,

This has been an ongoing issue with the turnstiles/gates since the stadium was first opened (1986/7) especially when there are large crowds like on Friday night. This really should have been sorted out long ago but Sadly it seems this has not been adequately corrected still.

I would have to say that the main problem is the actual Stadium itself, the gates/turnstiles and the layout of the facility is horrible and nothing short of some serious changes to these plus the approaches will change it.

I will be getting there early but it is one of the main reasons I hate attending events like this at the stadium.

@ Fifa Regs:

Thanks for the clarification regarding showing the matches live, So with this knowledge I can only imagine that Tuesday's match will surely be being shown live then as there will certainly be at least 75% tickets sold either online or prior/during the match (so long as there's no threat of rain of course).

The obvious question now is if the BFA is adhering to FIFA's 75% of tickets sold before showing live matches what is the ticket allocation/capacity for the National Stadium?

If this is being based on the 'Seated' Capacity which I believe is approx 4,800/5,000 - 1,800+ ? for the Grandstand and approx 3,000 + ?(very Cramped)for the Eastern bleachers.

Or are the BFa basing it on the capacity of the stadium where fans are allowed to stand in the passage ways, lower field/track area as well? If so this would raise it to approx 7,500 + There is/used to be a FIFA stipulation that all fans must be 'Seated' for World Cup Matches.
If it is the latter then it is very difficult to see where live matches are to be shown regularly though they have done so in the not too distant past.

Any BFA officials willing to clarify their position would help, maybe Bernews could ask as well! I will be there on Tuesday night but there are many that wont/can't be there.

It was a good match and Bermuda played very well up until about the last 20 minutes which were nail-biting for the home crowd. Please don't take away from this victory, especially if you didn't actually witness it first hand.

Great job Gombay Warriors, too bad BFA can't even organise a simple thing properly. It took us exactly one hour from the time I got in line (yes my wife did time it) to get in a statium that was not 100% sold out. Both gates on the grandstand side should have been open from the get go, and the US anthem fiasco, well, well. I saw Shaun Gaoter with his family in line, also something wrong with that picture, while our elected officals have long been given VIP access, smh. Anyways all is well that ends well, question to BFA are you really trying to get people to come out and support the national football programme ? Really ?

I believe that " FIFA Regulation" has answered the question of why we can't have live TV coverage or live streaming. He has explained that FIFA reguluations state that no game can be broadcast live or streamed until the percentage of tickets sold is over 75% of the total gate. This is apparently a worldwide regulation. I would also imagine that FIFA insists that tickets are NOT sold at the gate, hence having to sell them at Cedarbridge for those, like myself, who didn't read the notices and decided to turn up at the last minute hoping to purchase tickets at the gate. I won't make the same mistake Tuesday night - will book them online in good time!

Nice work Bermuda. Nice to see the young bies playing well! Keep the tempo high for Guyana next week.
One question for BSA- why not televise this? Collaborate and come to some sort of contractual agreement with the governments channel, or any of the other local channels. Maybe thats how you can generate some revenue?? Or, if that is too complicated...perhaps at least a highlight reel for the local tv stations/island stats/bernws/the RG??
Come on! Guys gotta catch up to the 21st century!! This stuff has got to be televised!!

Just a few facts firstly for the naysayers. FIFA world rankings - Trinidad and Tobago 80, Bermuda 189. CONCAF rankings - Trinidad and Tobago 7, Bermuda 31. Population of T&T 1.25 million, Bermuda 68,000. Let’s get things in perspective. This was a fabulous win by our Bermuda team. Every player gave 100%+ with tremendous support from 3,000 very enthusiastic and noisy but well behaved supporters. This was great match by any measure and we should all be proud of our boys.

Yes, there were a few technical problems with tickets sales up at Cedarbridge but the delayed start allowed most of us to catch most of the game. The problems will no doubt be sorted out by Tuesday for the match against Guyana, as will the National Anthem.

For anyone apprehensive about the behaviour of local football fans the atmosphere last night was electric and everyone was well behaved. Our fans had to be worth at least one goal for the home team. What we need now is less destructive criticism and even more fans showing up to support our team on Tuesday night. Based on last night’s performance attendance should double for Tuesday’s game.

Just so that it can be clarified, FIFA reguluations state that no game can be broadcast live or streamed until the the tickets sold is over 75%. This is NOT a BFA regulation this is a worldwide regulation. I hope that this clears this up.
Additionally apologies have been made for the lines there were some severe technical issues with the ticket vendor that are being sorted out for Tuesday's match against Guyana.
Thank you for all the support that all those in attendance gave to the Bermuda National Team. Hope to see you all out on Tuesday when we continue our quest to the next round.

Well done Bermuda, you did your country proud. The game doesn't need to be televised, folks need to come out and support our national team.

Job well done.

Hopefully the next time the BFA can sort out the crazy lines at the gate (at 8pm there were more people outside in the line than inside due to the ridiculous SINGLE gate they had open for the grandstand...

Somebody might also want to slip the BFA a copy of God Save the Queen... it's not my favourite either, but it is what it is and it was embarrassing to be subjected to a whole minute of the Star Spangled Banner before somebody pulled the plug and the game had to continue WITHOUT Bermuda's national anthem...

Congratulations Bermuda, you guys played well and got a deserved victory! Forget these Internet chat room/comment posting junkies and nay sayers that have only negative thoughts and comments for you and remain focused on the pure love and support of us that believe in you and our country! Come on Bermuda, let's stand up for something that our youth are doing positive and give them 100% support! I was there last night and have to say as a nation our support is lacking and we need to stop being so uptight and make some noise! The trinidadians were making more noise then us during the game except when we scored. I'll be there again on Tuesday, but this time with a drum or some noise maker that I'll be playing for 105 minutes straight!! Bring the noise bermuda and again congrats!

Congrats to all involved, well done Gombey Warriors we're all proud of you ... well maybe not all of us as some of these comments are truly sad/pathetic. I have no problem with people putting a foot in the a$$ of the Govt and or BFA if it's warranted I do as well but come on this is about our National Squad vs Trinidad's for goodness sake not the Govt, Dr. Brown etc!!

Again Well done Bermie, wish I could have been there, fair points about why this couldn't have gone out live via TV or Internet, I know the BFA don't like to do so because it's felt that people will not show up and support the team. Still not everyone could fit into the NS if they did go and yes this could still have made them money by having it available as pay per view. Just Saying.

Very proud of our national soccer team, but I still feel that we could have played better... The passing especially left a lot to be desired, but when the passing game did finally improve, we were able to score two great goals!!! Well done!!! Still not sure why we cannot have a scoreboard/clock at international games, it looks very unprofessional! Oh great defending also!
