Woman Awakes, Allegedly Finds Burglar

In Plea Court this morning [Nov.3], 40-year-old Stefon Somersall pleaded not guilty to a charge of burglary. He was charged with committing the offence on 31st October 2011 at a residence in Ocean Sands Drive in Warwick Parish.

The court heard that the complainant, a woman, was asleep in her bed when she was awoken by the ringing of a cellphone.On opening her eyes she saw a man standing over her.

The summary of evidence said that the man grabbed her purse containing over $100 in Bermuda dollars, Canadian dollars, and UK pounds and ran off. The woman chased the man, he left the house, and she then called Police.

Mr Somersall, was later arrested by Police. This arrest occurred on Ocean Sands Road about thirty minutes after the complainant had called Police.

Mr Somersall was remanded in custody until his trial date of 20th January 2012.

    OMG not only is this burglar brazen, but dumb as well. Assuming the cellphone was his, he didnt even think to put it on silent? what a dummy and to top it off, he hung around the area until police came – sigh. Lady get a dog.

    Lock your windows and doors. Also, most sliding glass doors are very easy to break into using an everyday item that I won’t mention (you’d be shocked). Put a broomstick or something on the inside floor against the sliding door. Also, in may cases you can open either side of a slider – so secure the other one shut with a bar and screws.

    This is all very easy to do and will secure your house.
