Room rates are importand you are competing with the caribian were the weather is warmer all year around.
Bermudas rates should be 30 to 40 % lower then the average of today.

I must agree with ‘mixitup:’ $97/night is too low! Believe it or not, but many people *can* afford rates in excess of $450/night (which, I have found, is the ‘average’ for Bermuda). I do not think it is the price of our hotels that is detracting visitors; indeed, room rates were high here even in Bermuda’s ‘glory day’s.’ Rather, it is simply a matter of advertising. As the General Manager of Hamilton Princess stated, there are some people who simply do not know where Bermuda is or how easy it is to get to, and nor are they aware of what we have to offer. Secondary to that, yes, I do think we need to offer our visitors more to do and a better variety of world-class resorts (even if said resorts are charging rates much, much higher than $450/night).

What newest Hotel is 30 years old? Tucker’s Point is only 2 years old…. Sure let’s sell $97 rooms year round, just have the visitors bring candles because the electric bill amongst other things will not be paid with those rates.

It’s about time….now how can we keep $97/night standard? The newest hotel is over 30 yrs old so the room has paid for itself. Why not sell the room at $97 basic, and charge extra for amenities and extra services
