I was there for the majority of the night and can say that there were up 150 attendees during the 3 hour (7pm to 10pm) period. Many probing questions were asked and answers given during this Open Mic session. This is the second such event hosted by the FBA but rest assured it will not be the last.

Cannonier has to speak up. He is invisible. And when he does speak it isn’t issues based. It is emotion based. He isn’t just running for Parliament. He has to convince people that he can be the Premier. I am not seeing a Leader in him. I am seeing a figurehead.

This open mic night is nothing new the PLP hosted a few in 2007 at Greg’s Steak House, useful tool on how to see how the young people feel.

Please note that the Parliamentary team of MPs and Senators have a specific strategy re. who speaks to particular matters in the House of Assembly (or Senate) and it is typically relevant to the portfolios (Ministries) they have been assigned by the Leader and/or experience. Craig is the Shadow Minister for National Security and will primarily speak to that or key matters (like the Throne speech reply – where he spoke for almost 90 mins.) I should also point out that the House has had a few sessions of going on until 4am & 5am and Craig has spoken a few times to matters, but you may have missed it given the duration of the days having started at 10am the previous morning!

There were that many people throughout the night but not at once.

I applaud the senior OBA members for reaching out to young people unfortunately many of us prefer congregating to drink but not to discuss our society!

We all know the election will be won on the doorstep and in the press however it’s positive when young people are engaged and given the opportunity to contribute. Us not taking the opportunity is not the fault of the OBA nor PLP for that matter.

Hello i would like to know how come the Leader of the OBA does not speak in the house of Assembly i would vote for the party if he startrs to talk and represent the OBA as there leader.
