I think that is great – but don’t degrade yourself and fall into the PLP trap. YOu are black and you are voting RIGHT. It’s not a black white thing. The PLP are (successfully I might add) making it a black white thing. It’s about politics, economics and our future. It’s about making this Island work for teh betterment of ALL of us. There is no WHITE party. There is no Black party (Zane, Jane and other come to mind?) There is right and there is wrong. What has happened during teh last 5 years is just plan wrong. Vote out the government – let them regroup and see what some different faces can do in the meantime. Taht’s all you can do as a voter.

See, you people make it out to be all about the Brown, Burch and Cox when it goes beyond that! You say vote OBA and if things don’t work out, then in four years vote them out….this makes sense to you? You have got to me kidding me, do you know what can happen in four year? You say that the PLP have recruited people in their ranks that have been disastrous…in what way exactly? The most people can do is take potshots at previous leader’s personalities, but what have they done to make things a disaster? Take Dr. Brown for example. He was called haughty, arrogant, egotistical, etc but nobody could find any of his policies at fault, they just didn’t like the man. Dr. Brown was my physician years before he became Premier, and how I saw him then was the same as I saw him in office…and I might add a lot of doctors have similar personas but I never hear them called such names. Col. Burch is another case in point. With his regimental background, yes he’s going to be a bit rough around the edges…but who cares, he gets the job done!!! And as for Premier Cox, there are very few people on the face of this earth with a mind as briliiant…and classy and well spoken round out the package. So there you have it…I had yet to see anyone in the OBA that even come close!!!

I agree VG, but you have to see that the PLP since being in office have recruited Bermudians in their ranks that have been disastrous to this country. Burch, Brown, Cox, its not about town hall meetings anymore, its about voting for the party that has the honest people that will represent us internally and internationally. Remember the world is watching us and reading us right now, vote for the OBA, and if things are not running right after 4 years then we can change them. Hopefully after 4 years the BURCH’S THE BROWN’S AND THE COX’S WILL NOT BE AROUND.

@ Concerned…just what makes you think that, as you put it, the OBA or any other party can “get your island back”? I would agree that everything is not perfect here, but no country is! How do you know that somebody else in power won’t make things WORSE? People like you are just chomping at the bit praying that the PLP fail so you can say “I told you so” instead of trying to hold up and support our leaders. The PLP is currently in power, and by hoping they fail is hoping for a miserable Bermuda for all of us. Instead of being part of the problem, how about being part of the solution. I’m human and I even have to check myself from time to time for moaning and complaining…but guess what, I also attend town hall meetings, call my MP, etc and make sure my voice is heard in the proper way!!!

IT looks like Col. Burch is a “strong force” to be up against. The OBA/UBP fans are upset, crying and screaming that your back. Many did not expect your return. They did not want to deal with you. You a tough politician who takes “no bull” or “prisoners”. Just the mere fact Mr. Dunkley wrote on the blog suggest he is up against a tough debate with you. You always held Mr Dunkley to the wicket in the Senate. He was not able to throw out anything when debating with you. Wayne Scott will never win against the Col Burch. Also he so far far out of touch with his own people and is not capable of making that contact with the people. Col. Burch these comments suggest that you are back in full action, and what a “Strong wave” you have made. Love him or hate him, the COl is back…..back….look out OBA/UBP. Keep pushing on Col. Burch and working in the best interest of “BERMUDIANS”.

A name change does not mean the OBA/UBP does not have a history.

On another note, I lived off of Court Street for many years and owned a small business there. I have NEVER seen Michael Dunkley in the area…Never!!! Mr. Dunkley is no doubt a very nice man and yes he employs many Bermudians. However, like somebody said earlier, he will never, ever comprehend the struggles many of us go through on a daily basis. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and he (along with his brother) have money and property up the ying yang. Does he identify with the average black brother on the street? Noooo! Say what you like, call me any racist name in the book…which doesn’t bother me in the least…but I’m going with my grassroots party and people that look like me….so there!!! PLP all the way!!! Pretty sure hiring people and providing them with an income is one part that improves people’s lives…and how exactly would Unionization improve their lot in life? Are you insinuating that Dunkley’s is somehow abusing their employees and that the Union is the only way to save them from the big bad white owners? Do you have a problem that Island Construction employees are not unionized?

And so in this cult of personality which has been cultivated within Bermuda, any person that is not part of the PLP, but politically active, is simply doing it on a selfish basis and simply years for power…

But if an individual is politically active and is part of the PLP they are sent from god and is acting solely in the best interests of the island and her people (while also collecting a six figure pay check)…

You talk a good game but then you are a strong candidate. If you ever join the PLP I will support you. Right now the whole World economy is screwed up so you can’t really do anything about that, because what ever effects the USA effects Bermuda. The only thing that I want from your party if you win the next election is to fix the crime or put a dent in it. When these men go West Gate it’s a club house or community prison. Their is no deterrent in place. Prison should be a place where people don’t want to return. I’m talking about 23 hour lock down in your cell and 1 hour for rec. Slide their food under the door like the majority of the prisons in the World. When their family’s visit them put them behind a plaxi glass with a telephone. Right now their all sitting around tables on meet and greet like a school. That would save Government all this money hiring so many prison officers. I have had friends that went West for various criminal acts. Each one told me the place is like a mens hotel compared to the prisons over in the USA. Work on this and I might change my vote because my party the PLP has been sleeping on this for to long. I’m tired of all this BS crime. FIX IT DUNKLEY OBA/UBP because @ this point I don’t care as long as your protecting my family!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ Cleancut…R Wayne Scott is running in 27 and he has been on the doorstep. Wayne is an excellent candidate who truly wants to put Bermuda first…all of Bermuda. To answer your question about how I feel about Mr. Burch returning to the political arena…IMO he never left as I note he was Chair of the Parole Board, and many in the community have not been happy with some of their decisions recently. Imguess he and the Premier have “kissed and made up” after their tiff. I might also add that anyone is free to put their name forward for political office and I will always support that, now it is up to the voters to do their thing behind the curtain. I trust we all agree that we need people elected that truly want to work for all people without bias; no matter race, color or creed. In this regard a voter should closely exam a candidates past record as now more than ever we need people with a proven track record of success in life.
@ Wow says…thank you for your support and I am glad that you eat a healthy breakfast. In answer to your question about the OBA I think you are aware that the One Bermuda Alliance was formed as a new party last year so I am not sure what you refer to as a name change.
