OK I get it, you get what you pay for….a standard banquet meal….this is a disgrace and I was hoping to be able to select my 3 courses from the regular menu, which would not have included any of the aforementioned items, I managed to view the regular menu and was impressed with the wide selection….

If you want my business, open up the entire menu for the reduced price, which would have provided you the opportunity for my repeat business at the regular price.

Don’t be so darn cheap…

So naturally I cancelled my reservation and we dined elsewhere…

Maybe it isn’t a HUGE amount of money going into the local economy – but it is people who had a reasonable expectation of being given fair notice rather than being held in limbo for months until a “policy” told them that they were to stop working in 5 days and GTHO of Bermuda three weeks later.

I know a lot of people who would be hard pressed to sell their posessions, wind up their affairs, make plans to go “home” or somewhere else. 3 months – maybe – 1 week + 3 to leave – not so much.

And the service was sh^t from the get go. If you can’t make a good first impression with customers you might as well close up.

Restaurants with half the “design” and twice the “character” have survived a lot longer.

MinorMatters you are a walking contradiction because you say “The best part of the meal was the dessert and that’s because the restaurant didn’t make the pastry nor the ice cream.” Well for your information that was the only part of the meal made by Bermudians the rest of the meal was made by foreigners. But I guess some peoples prejudice rule their sight because the restaurant you were in has an open kitchen where its plain to see foreigners are the cooks. The restaurant gets its deserts from a bakery that has Bermudian bakers. Too bad they didn’t know the goodies were for you then maybe they would have added a special ingredient.

Folks its just election spin, the stupid and brainless will elect them again, don’t worry, be happy.

Why target Bermuda for this? Please do your research first.

However, on an article about Restaurant Week (and NOT Greg’s Steakhouse or Bermudian service), such a story seemed irrelevant to me.

“Boycotting eating in restaurants from now on”?! Again, suit yourself, but once more… what does that achieve other than furthering what seems to me a rather troubling personal vendetta?

Just call it for Gods sake.

You must be new here mate if you question what I am referring to with regards to Greg’s Steakhouse – he made a huge deal out of how he only employed Bermudians in his restaurant. Sadly, it FAILED MISERABLY.

I mean, grow up, please. Honestly, I don’t understand what you’re getting at–what in the heck does Greg’s Steakhouse have to do with this? Secondly, I don’t see how, by boycotting this initiative, you are really affecting the government; after all, you are paying your $29+ to the restaurant, *not* the PLP. How shallow you are to levy your distaste with the government’s “lunacy”–and, again, I still cannot understand how you can connect them with “horrible” restaurant service–at entrepreneurs who are merely trying to offer *you* something.

Your comment seems a bit empty to me, yet loaded with pugnacious sentiments.

I, for one, think this initiative is an exciting one. New York’s restaurant week, from which this event originates, is a ton of fun (you can get three course lunches from some of the world’s finest restaurants for $24.07), and, of course, an excellent value.

No reservations for this family and friends during Restaurant Week – sorry restauranteurs, this is how “foreigners” vote! You can thank the idiots in office.

And PS: with all the money we save by not paying incompetent waitstaff the mandatory 18% on overpriced meals, we are planning a really exotic, money-is-no- option vacation OFF ISLAND! No more stay-cations. Bermuda continues to blow it big time. Pathetic.
