I’ve been informed that there will be an 8am departure from Dockyard to Hamilton and a 5pm departure from Hamilton to Dockyard M-F. This may be a good alternative for some as there is also free parking in Dockyard and the drive Somerset Bridge may be within 10min.

This is so wrong. The morning ferry that is being cancelled is actually not the least used. This morning us byes on the ferry were talking about it. Instead, they should run the morning ferries as they are now until schools are finished. Then they can cut the first morning ferry as there are only about 10 people on it when schools are out. That should give them the savings they need. They should cut that first morning ferry every time the schools are on break. And I totally agree that the mini-bus should charge a small fee for the service.

Another dumb a$$ move by government!! Always doing whats best for them and not for the people of Bermuda!!
Let’s get this straight…they want traffic scaled back in the City and they want less people to drive so parking has been cut and wider sidewalks put in to also make less traffic in the city! The current ferry and buses are not dependable cause always a strike or the ferries just don’t show! Now we are cutting some of the morning ferries that people depended on including a lot of school children!!
This now means I amongst alot others will now have to drive to work because of the ferry cut. My child cannot be dropped off to school before 7:30 which means I cannot catch the 7:20, the next best is currently the 7:55 which gets me in town with enough time to walk to my job which I start work at 8:30. The next ferry after that is 8:20 which will NOT get me in town on time for work. I’m sure there are many other mothers that will have to do the same!! So now more traffic heading into Hamilton again starting April 16th!! Great job guys!!

Just as a note Mini-buses are privately owned thats why government was subsidizing them.

So let me see if I have this straight. A successful service is being scaled back, the mini bus service is cancelled, people will now have to take their cars to Rockaway and park there, oh no, wait, the car park is full by 8 am.
Perhaps someone in the know can tell us what the ferry staff will do instead of the 3 trips that were removed. Do they get laid off, are their hours cut or do they still get full pay but aren’t actually working?

This is unbelievable. I thought the premier said yesterday they would leave public transport alone? And today they announce this. Is this another policy they will have to reverse?

Why don’t we pay for the mini-bus instead of cancelling it all together. Where are people going to park at Rockaway. The parking lot is always already full. Isn’t the idea to take people off the road? Why don’t you charge $5 / week for the mini-bus pass. This government doesn’t think before it does anything!

By June , nobody will be taking the Rockaway ferry. The PLP are taking away the only good thing they have implemented. Way to piss a lot of people off.
A slow painful train wreck.
(suggestion) Privatize the mini bus service , have a coffee/snack truck in the morning.
