No visible markings. Truck approached Reid Street from Cavendish Road. Driver had no care or concern for anyone – did not stop to even look. Truck made a huge bang when it hit the tree so there is no way the driver could not have known he hit something…idiot.

And if so, do they just pay the cost of planting a new tree, or would that include the upkeep of the tree up until the time it is functionally equivalent to the felled tree?

Even further, I believe Greenrock or BEST put forward an estimate of the value of a tree in terms of it’s ecosystem goods and services it provides (carbon sequestration, noise mitigation, air pollution mitigation, shade, etc.) – could these be factored in for determining the compensation?

I remember the CoH talking about a new tree planting initiative some months ago – any news on that? What kind of trees (invasives versus endemics/natives versus fruit bearing trees)? And where (does back-of-town get left out again)?
