Really? What exactly is “economic power on this island”? Is it the BMA? Is it the Ministry of Finance? Is it the Bermudian shareholders of many local public companies like BELCO, Bank of Butterfield, etc.? Come on, LOL, get a life and stop trying the same old scare tactic making a few businesses into the bogeyman. Do you know how many Bermudians are employed by Gosling’s, Gibbons group and Dunkley’s? They many be influential, but they certainly don’t come close to “controlling economic power,” whatever that is.

Bob told us that Cayman was doing it the right way. But, Cayman’s expat population dropped from a peak of 24,730 to 19,927.

Bob and the OBA just don’t give me a lot of confidence. They don’t have any other ideas to address the economy. Their only idea is one that failed in Cayman. What makes you think that it’ll work here?

After the 2 year suspension of term limits, hopefully our Reinsurance Companies and other private sector companies decide to move senior executives to the island.

For every executive that lands here to live and work there are number of jobs that are created by them …for Bermudians.

For every young professional Bermudian that is employed, they can afford to employ other Bermudians to work for him (Construction, electrical, AC, house cleaning services, etc etc.)

Not to mention the ancillary benefits: the renting of apartments, BELCO benefits, grocery stores, restaurants, schools, taxi’s etc etc.

GOD FORBID any of that stuff happens ! That would just be terrible for Bermudians. You’re right, we should stick with the current plan of making our Companies feel unwelcome and isolated.

The PLP crack me up. Who has made out better than the friends of the PLP and members of the party? Whilst the public purse is plundered and our national debt is ever increasing, it would be very interesting to see which PLP Minsters and friends of the PLPs personal wealth have grown during that same period.

In the US this would be public information. This is perpahs why the Government hasn’t moved at all on the PATI bill that was promised so many years ago now.

The attempt to paint the OBA as the front street party is laughable. PLP is the new front street…. You didn’t get the memo?

Bob Richards can’t get his story straight, now he’s talking about work permit abuses!

Bob, face the music, you want to get rid of term limits and give PRCs status and the right to vote, just like they do in the Cayman Islands.

With all this time the OBA have had to “plan” don’t you think its interesting they won’t say anything about what happens after they “suspend” term limits. Curious indeed.
