for all the people male or female adult or youth it is not okay to simply carry out such an alleged fantasy to satisfy your sexual needs…. there no excuse as to why this alleged man is not named, children 99 percent of the time do not lie or even understand what is going on to lie. most kids who are allegedly sexually abused tend not to realize what is going on and that it is normal, so they realize as they get older it is wrong and it is not okay to allegedly do such nasty things. this is something thisyoung girl has to live and think about evryday….im talkin from experience. i wish for your thoughts to slowly torture yourself and i hope you rot in hell u selfish alleged sexuall preditor… 2012 lets talk bermuda tired of seeing our young people dealing with situations like this.

First of all, they don’t publish names until the alleged perp is found guilty. That I can understand because anyone can make an accusation but that doesn’t make it true. Their life can be made miserable if they are innocent but accused of this-they would always carry that stigma which isn’t fair if a person is innocent.

Once the evidence is presented and a person found guilty, then they are named. The exception would be if identifying the perpetrator could lead to identifying the victim, which is fair as the victim would then have a stigma attached to them.

Don’t take this as a defence of these alleged perverts. I can understand people being upset and wanting people named, but the present system is fair. Just because someone is accused of something doesn’t make it true. As I said, it wouldn’t be right to walk around with that stigma hanging over you when you haven’t done anything wrong. They name the perps in other countries but Bermuda is too small for that. If people want to know that badly who it is, when the trial starts go up to the courthouse and sit in on the trial…

IF found guilty, then these men need to be named and shamed-especially men of this age…that is totally disgusting.

Name and Pictures – in the US they are posted on notice boards in the town they are living in and have to register as a sex offender. When they move neighborhoods, the new neighborhood is notified. This is what we need. How are we supposed to protect our children when we don’t know WHO we are supposed to protect them against.

Almost every instance of child molestation I know of was perpetrated by someone known to the victim, usually someone cared for and trusted by both the victim and their parent(s)… fathers, step-fathers, brothers, uncles, grandfathers, step-grandfathers, boyfriends, fiances, friends of the family. And the abusers are often non-discriminatory about their victims – male or female, doesn’t matter, as long as they are young and innocent.
Please also note, more than 90% of these offenders are heterosexual, even the ones that abuse little boys.
Some people are so worried about a homosexual teaching their children, they need to look a lot closer to home.

I’m going to guess and say this probably isn’t the first time(allegedly). No one decides at 62 years old to allegedly start sexually abusing a child.

I also find the “not naming for legal reasons” to be nonsense. People who drive drunk, have minor possession of drugs, minor stealing offenses all get blasted in the newspaper for much less yet alleged pedophiles are protected. I don’t believe it helps in identifying the victim either and that it’s used as a cop out. There are MANY MANY alleged sexual predators in Bermuda and that’s the real reason. It’s more men than you know. If we had a sexual offense registry there’d be a lot of names on that list and people would be outraged.

Some serious education needs to take place in classrooms NOW. Parents need to reiterate it at home and have open honest communication with their children. If we cannot stop the sick perverts we need to arm the victims. Sadly, no one can be trusted with your children anymore. If you do not protect them, who will? Not the judges and not the legal system.
