Just want to note, that as you all have said “what a waste of time this whole process is”, this incident will sit on his record when he goes up for parole. It may be funny now, but hopefully a parole board with a set of balls don’t even allow him to sit down. Soon as he hits the entrance door he should be told “Come back in 6 months when you’ve served your time for the Prison Officer incident” (now that in fact he has been found guilty).
Today it may not sink in, but going to your parole hearing with your hopes up of getting released and being confronted with your action than; will properly send a message.

FFS, at least add the six months on to the end of his 30 years, and make him serve the full 30 years now.
