Six years ago I went to one of their showrooms and saw a car I liked, but they only had a few and weren’t sure when the next shipment would be arriving (or so they said). I plunked down $1,000 as a deposit and went and got a bank loan for the entire cost of the vehicle, figuring they’d give me back the $1,000 that was my money that they were using to hold onto it. This was money I needed for other things, but had to use it if I wanted them to hold the car for me. I figured I’d get the deposit back once I paid for the vehicle.

Lo and behold, even though the bank gave them the full cost they said they couldn’t give me back the $1,000 but that I’d have to use it as a credit. I said in that case I’d go back to the bank and have them take $1,000 off my loan. They said they couldn’t guarantee that they’d be able to hold the car-this despite the fact that they still had the $1,000 deposit…they were just being spiteful, in my opinion. I even went as far as to go to the general manager but was told ‘nope’-we can’t give you back the $1,000 even though the bank was paying the full cost of the vehicle. I caved and ended up using the credit at Home Zone but it irritated me to no end.

MEANWHILE, a friend of mine had the exact same situation at Bermuda Motors. When B.M. received the full payment from the bank, they gave my friend her $1,000 deposit back-NO PROBLEM!!!

I’ve made up my mind never to do business with HWP again due to my experience with their greed and blackmail. They very easily could have given me back the $1,000 but NO, they wanted to keep that on top of being paid by the bank. If I had known they’d do that, I either wouldn’t have made the deposit and just waited for the next shipment or automatically had $1,000 taken off my loan. HWP made an extra $1,000 off me because of this. I’m sure I’m not the only person they’ve done this to so it’s a win-win situationf for them. Their business going up in flames and their current problems is all bad karma biting them in the azz as far as I’m concerned.

My next vehicle will be coming from Bermuda Motors where they have integrity and their customer service is 100% better as well!!!

you can’t possibly explain the complexity of this situation without consulying the book of Keyseian economics. I rest my case on a crate of beans.

All service providers , retailers and landlords should be preparing themselves to compete for business like they never have before.
The slight (and that’s all it has been compared to what it’s going to become) decline we’ve seen in some select segments of the property rental market is barely a hint at what’s yet to come .
Service providers … get ready to engage in some serious negotiating or risk loosing out on the dearth of work.
