You’ll be truely missed & by the amount of people that you effected by your untimely death you touched a lot of people. Your family will mos def miss you. The entire twitter & facebook sites have been continuously sadden by your passing & we all miss you. I hope you look down on everyone & watch over us all & my deepest condolences to the Astwood Family. It’ll get easier with time.

@Keepin’ it Real…4Real – I know what you mean. I drive along the Northshore each day. When travelling East along the Northshore (between the roadabout and Lloyal Hill for example) there are parts of the road where there are so much tall weeds, cane grass growing and overgrowth from the trees that cars are driving 2-4 feet further to the right to avoid it. Another example is the warning sign just before the Bus Stop on the right. There is so much growth that the sign is hidden from view. And that is just one short stop. THe problem does not seem to be as bad going West but I guess that is because much of the land on that side is privately owned and there are more walls and gates and therefore less tres. Collectors Hill, St. Marks and Verdmont Road is also no better. Last time I think we had Public Works killing the weeds and sweeping up here was hmmmmm, let me see…..just before the last Election – I think.

someone mentioned about the roads being in disrepair….i for one have a very expensive vehicle (any make of vehicle in bermuda is outrageously expensive)which also has been personalized to my liking at again a considerable cost…so what, its my money that i worked to obtain.
Now my beef is this…i have seen people driving over the line just to get away from uneven trenches(and trenches cover 90% of the public highway) which in turn causes many unwanted collisions…the point is this…my tires cost a mere $275,00 per TIRE…not these cheap azz tires you get for 75-100 bucks…well these trenches have cost me about 1000bucks in the last two years by UNDUE tearing splitting rubbing even rimming….I as well as every other person who licences their vehicle PAY for that ROAD to be PROPERLY SURFACED for SAFETY REASONS!…Hey Mr. ROAD SAFETY…you know who you are… makin all these ignorant requirements …when these vehicles leave their place of origin they are deemed SAFE for human consumption ok…REVISED DRIVING STANDARDS is definitely needed. Govt’s excuses as to why the roads are in such disrepair are unacceptable….monies are allocated for that by way of LICENCING…wheres my money that i pay every year along with the rest of bermudas vehicular population..?
Every Building in Town PAYS BIG MONEY to be there yet our city streets are deplorable oh and dont compare us to ANYwhere else…coz i remember Beautifully BlackTop roadways on my Island that is beauty clean black and lined…BUT NOOOOO i gotta buy a freakin LandRover just to get from a-b…ahhh dats it…wheewww tyed now
oh one more thing …there are a lot of sleeping drivers out there trust me coz im a road rager…what pi$$es me off are the ones that crawl up to a green light then it turns yellow n red and they go right along through but I gotta stop coz i don’t run lights, i don’t need to, green means go ..get my drift.

Everyday in my short commute into Hamilton I still see people talking on their cell phones, small children standing in the seats unrestrained and adults holding infants across their chest in the front seat of the car. This is all illegal but people continue to break the law, and it’s because they can. The worse case is the disrespect people have for the disabled. Why do you contine to park in disabled parking spots that are designated for disabled people? Marketplace in Shelly bay have two disabled parking spots clearly marked but a disabled driver cannot seem to use these spots as they are taken by drivers who are too lazy to park in a regular bay and walk in the shop. Bermudian drivers are the worse and show no respect on our roads.

More radar isn’t what is needed, that doesn’t work and only serves to fill the coffers for the government. All those idiotic drivers can still drive poorly and likely never get policed for it!

In any case a young fellow has passed away, what caused the accident isn’t mentioned.

Where are the police enforcing speed? Not enough police cars (2-3 per station; ridiculous), never see the cycles, and where is the radar/laser operators?

The streets are dark, lights not working, the paint is faded or worn away, Tee street not traffic lights, Harbour road to thin, cars getting too big and lack of police enforcement and common sense approach to road safety issues! All the traffic jams could be elevated if the government would put in some roundabouts and intersection changes!
