I think it is awesome that the PLP would say anything derogatory about anything or anyone. Talking about press conferences, let us not forget the ‘this too shall pass’ speech. You know, the one where ewart brown spat in all of our faces. Or the ‘we had to deceive you’ speech, where apparently, we are all dumb little children, incapable of comprehending anything. Maybe Mr Blakenly hasn’t had the pleasure of listening to the tourism minister when he is talking? How about our premier? Listening to her speeches, firstly take 4 hours and frankly, her slowness in speaking makes me think she has problems grasping the english language; and I feel as if I am getting dumber the more I listen to her.

Thank you for bring up that POOR excuse for a press conference. That was the most ridiculous press conference I have seen heard. Darius fumbled through that whole thing. Not once did he actually answer a question…
Reporter: “Is the PLP saying that advise given to the party by consultants should be open to the public?”
Darius: “The PLP is talking about a secret plan that was put to together to form a new entity. And the transparency.”

How the heck is that an answer to the the question? The first word of his answer should be Yes or No.
But by answering yes or no would have negated the whole issue. No one looks more foolish than Darius. In fact I’m so happy Darius Tucker left the UBP because he has no substance. No intelligent arguments.

I commend Nandi for allowing someone more experienced to answer the question. These questions aren’t tests of how much a junior member knows over senior member. These questions are asked in order to satiate the public’s concerns about community issues. When a candidate is asks a question, the candidate should be answering on behalf of the party it represents, not on their own behalf. How could you expect a junior member to answer a complicated community question, while a more experience member stands nearby with the proper answers that the community needs. The public wants intelligent answers not some pompous fool blurting out false information and ridiculous propaganda.

Maybe you need to ‘do research’. Mad Dawg is right. It was not ’10 years’. It was 7 years. The suggestion was made by Bean to start replacing the fast ferries in October 2010, when the oldest ones were less than 8 years old. He was trying to divert attention from the chronic lack of maintenance of the ferry fleet. He suggested, in justifying this position, that you wouldn’t want to fly in a jet more than 7 years old. Incredibly uninformed, particularly given his position then as Junior Transport Minister.

In mid-October 2010, Ewart Brown had to step in and correct the stupid things Bean had said. According to one report at the time:
Dr. Brown replied: “I think Senator Bean had his numbers mixed up, I think he misspoke.”

As you have admitted, major airlines fly jets that are well into their teens, and often 20 yrs+. The difference is that airlines carry out proper maintenance.

Bean might have at one point been a “transport professional” but it didn’t stop him from screwing up some simple facts. And at that point he wasn’t a neophyte politician, he was supposed to be a Junior Minister. Eventually his boss had to step in and get him off the hook. But of course by that point he’d already demonstrated he had no idea what he was talking about.

sometimes I wonder in situatinos like the one being discussed if one side is given a copy of the questions and not the other. I could be wrong, please forgive me – if not stop issuing questions pre-interview or pre-debate. Make both sides even.

It was 10 years and I suggest you do some research. AA has the oldest and that is because of their md-80s and 757 in their fleet which they are replacing. Air tran and JetBlue fleet is around 7 years. It’s obvious that we need extra ferries regardless of age so that we have a sound maintainence schedule. He was dead wrong about airlines. Major airlines routinely have an average fleet age in the mid-teens. They don’t throw away planes after 7 years. It’s a ridiculous idea. And it’s also ridiculous to suggest that buses and ferries are worn out after 7 years. It was a stupid excuse being put forward for lack of maintenance. Of course, we know why Bean can’t think straight half the time.

I remember Mr Bean saying we should buy new buses and ferries every 7 years because they wear out. His ‘logic’ was that no-one would ever fly on a 7 year old airplane. Does Nandi always have to use her son as a sympathy tactic? She is not the only 25 yr old with a child. She also mentioned “head in the sand” but Renee Ming has been the only one to come to my door! The only one to ask me about my concerns! Although you have been to my neighborhood you have been selective of the houses you actually go to how do you expect to get the votes! And if you do decide to show up I want you to answer my questions not Bob Richards because at the end of the day if oba does win you will be minister of something right?! You will need to make decisions right?! I need to know that you can!
For the record I don’t want to vote PLP but at the end of the day I have no confidence in Nandi and an extreme amount in Renee. Anyone who lives in the St. Georges area would because she has proven herself in the St. Georges municipal elections etc.

Understandably, it would not necessarily be expected that any party would seek out to encourage and/or groom those less seasoned in the opposition but at the very least I would expect some level of maturity from more seasoned political candidates.
It is imperative that we the voters are presented with facts however we have the responsibility as well to seek out verification of the facts presented to us. Quite frankly, if we choose not to ensure that we are indeed voting based on facts, logic and in the best interest of our country we deserve the garbage that we may ultimately receive. It is also the responsibility of each candidate to present THEIR facts. In combination with facts, I vote based on what a candidate/party has, can and/or will do for me and our country, not on what one can tell me the other side didn’t, couldn’t or won’t. A response stating facts without the belittling and/or finger-pointing is better received than the playground rants.
I’m inspired by and applaud the new faces in both parties who have put themselves forward and subject themselves to public and oppositional scrutiny and at times abuse.
Mr. Blakeney is yet to visit many of us and would be better off putting a tad more time and effort visiting the few undecided voters that may be left in C13. With time closing in until election day he seemingly should have a lot of work to do and ground to cover, fortunately for him many of us want change and have made up our minds…no need to visit.
