My brother is a part of this list. He at first hated every minute of it. And so did I. The regiment helped him go back to school and get his life on track. When he passed, they helped us pay for and organise his unexpected funeral, and as a result lifted a huge burden off of my family. I am forever grateful.

It’s not for everyone but the Bermuda Regiment is not all that bad, and this memorial serves as tribute to the soldiers who I’m sure felt the same way as I do.

Looking at some of the names listed, some died in unrelated incidents to the regiment such as traffic accidents but died while being enlisted.

Some of you who comment on here are just daft. It is an honour to be recognized for serving in the Regiment at the time of a soldiers death regardless of their actual performance whilst serving. Only those who were actually serving, not those who’s names were in the draft list, will be listed. I see many names (some of whose funerals I attended) that I know from my time serving in the Regiment and many of them had a full Regiment funeral regardless of rank.

I actually find some of the comments already posted quite offensive to the deceased and the Regiment.

After they’re done honoring these lads they need to terminate conscription in Bermuda.

Nice on part of Warwick Camp, but some guys on that list was most time not showing up at warwick camp??How can you honour someone who wanted no part of army life??if you are to have a list , than perhaps a list to show the men and women who served in the regiment over the years??but guess that would be to long of a list!!! Just saying

@sandman….you are sleeping on the job!! It clearly states soldiers whi were active members! The was no “Bermuda Regiment” back in the day! It is not morbid…a nice way to say “We will always remember…”

Would this list also have names of those who are supposed to show but don’t show up every week and may have died through their negative actions??

Are these people who have died in the act of duty, or just died whilst happening to be enlisted? If the latter, there is something a little bit odd about it, to be honest. It’s a bit morbid if it becomes a custom for organisations to have memorials for everybody who happened to have died whilst a member. That’s what we have cemetries for.
