You support a Party that bloated the civil service to the point of being unsustainable and resulting in the need for Govt workers to take a paycut just in order for the Govt to keep on operating. You support a Party that ensures teh AG is arrested when their corruption is about to be unveiled. You support a Party that uses blind trusts in capital projects.

Their philosophy is the sell ourselves out of a recession [to foreign buyers]. If the OBA could they would give foreign executives citizenship at the drop of a dime, knowing that it would bolster their voting base.

The OBA would give those same people, who thrive on housing allowances, transportation allowances, travel allowances, private school tuition allowances etc, the opportunity to compete with average locals [some of which do the same jobs with none of those perks] for the limited supply of homes.

The OBA is the party that represents foreign interests, PRC holders, 1st generation “Bermudians” and spouses of Bermudians that want MORE of this little island. The PLP like any party is not perfect but they have and always will protect the birthrights of grassroots Bermudians, black and white.

To your second point, Bermuda experienced the peak of its economic activity and IB presence during the PLPs tenure, so no surprise that would coincide with the peak issuance of work permits… duhh.

To your third point, bonds are debt issuances that state we will pay you back your [essentially] loaned amount at some point in the future while payment you regular payments [called coupons] in the interim. No body owns Bermuda when purchasing a government bond… duhh.

What aren’t they doing to put people back to work? Should they be like the PLP and hire everyone and their family members in the civil service? Then what happens when the civil service is bloated to the point of bankrupting the country? Oh wait a minute that has already happened. And who caused that mess? They are trying to create conditions which will allow the country to not only survive, but also to strive. But you would rather a Party that engages in isolationist policies that are far more detrimental to the economy than actually being welcoming of much needed foreign investment. But no you want to revert back to failed practices that contributed greatly to the position that we are in. So please explain what they can be doing differently? Should they push Bermudians to go to Dockyard and sell sodas and trinkets to tourists coming off the cruise ships as mentioned by the PLP leader?

What exactly do you want them to do for the “lowly and downtrodden?” They haven’t taken away social assistance or eliminated any of the social programs instituted by the PLP. So what are you yammering about and what could be done differently and what has been done differently as compared to the PLP? Is it the re-opening of the free clinic or the leveling of Futurecare premiums for all participants?

The Gov’t is showing their arrogance and it took all of eight months. Minister Fahy is closing down charities that have been around longer than he’s been born based on one thing-a lack of audited financials knowing full well that many charities rely on audit firms who do it for free and therefore don’t make the charity a priority. He has not stepped foot inside any of those charities to see for himself how they run or to offer any assistance in getting the audits done. Is Gov’t going to pick up the slack when these charities close? NO. They should do everything in their power to help charities but do not.

This Gov’t is really starting to turn me off. What a bunch of hypocrites. I look forward to the PLP taking back power any day now because the OBA clearly suckered the public-they don’t care about the lowly and downtrodden, only those with deep pockets and lots if $$$.
