When I was thirteen, my neighbor/best friend was shot in the eye with a BB gun by his older brother. He lost the vision in that eye and only has partial vision in the other eye. So you are totally incorrect, they are not harmless at all.

They are not harmless. They are powerfull enough to shoot car windows out from a distance. You could kill somebody with a shot to the heart or neck with a pump action bb gun or one with a full Co2 cartridge. You can definitely take out an eye. It is actuall considered a hand gun in some states. Cheese and rice. Let me shoot you with one and and you will know how harmless a bb gun isn’t.

They are prohibited here, hence he is charged with breaking the law. You may be of the opinion that they are harmless, but the fact remains that they are illegal. You can walk in off the streets in many places and buy a weapon with relative ease, so does that make it ok with you? Does the fact that one can buy a BB gun off the shelf in the US give him a legal defense? The fact remains that we are not the US, they are illegal here and if you feel they shouldn’t be then lobby your MP to change the laws in “la la land.”

FYI: People HAVE been killed or seriously maimed in the past by BB guns in the US.
