I am disgusted by the comments I am reading on here. This is exactly why we have pedophiles running around the island and why so many cases go unreported. You have no idea how hard it is for a child to report something like this, especially if it is a father figure she cares about. You have no idea what these families and victims have gone through. How dare you come onto a public forum and accuse a child of lying. And stating his innocence with such certainty and authority! As if you were present! If you were not there to witness what these children endured then you are in no position to declare any of these men innocent. We have a serious pedophile problem in Bermuda. Family and friends who try to support these men at the expense of shutting down the child need to stfu and sit down. You can ‘stand by’ your loved one without being so tactless. Coming onto a public forum and calling a child a liar….my god Bermuda has gone to the dogs.

Don’t believe have a point…I’m not saying either of us are defending alleged pedos, but sometimes these “girls” are not even “touched” by the individual they named who takes the fall, but it is their own close family members who are the ones allegedly doing the wicked deeds and because the “child” reaches out to another male, since the femLes at home and around refuse to believe her…that guy becomes the fall guy.

The sad thing is, the police do not even let the “child” clarify and give statement about the truth. In some cases the child does but the police often do not let it be admissible in Court. Reminds of my the days when women of a certain race screamed rape and men of the other race took the rap for it, just because. Same thing, different period of time.

I agree Webster. It frustrates me how lenient they are. It frustrates me more how inconsistent they are.

Unfortunately, it does not matter how guilty or innocent you are these days. He who picks the best lawyer wins. If your lawyer can plant a seed of doubt in the magistrates head, or confuse them in any way – case dismissed before a trial even begins.

How can you rule on cyber crimes, if you don’t understand it, or even understand the internet, SMS, email etc..!? How can you rule on rape, child pornography, sexual abuse, if it has not affected you? Many police and social workers must attend lectures, seminars, and take courses to understand the impact and understand the crime and its impact. Do we ask the same from our judges! No. So why are we surprised when many walk away with little to know punishment , while the victims get to relive their pain.

Time for the AG Chambers to have the magistrates upgrade their skills or have them move aside. I pray that nobody reports back to say they already have this training, because I would hope that their judgments are based on ignorance and not intentional. That would leave me with some hope at least.

Exactly, all he would have to do is report their passport stolen to the nearest consulate once they turn it in, and then order a new one and have it sent to their home. In 10 days or less they can be out of here with a new passport.

I say if they’re guilty, take them up to Gibbs Hill Lighthouse. Have their hands and feet bound. Then tie a string around their “unmentionables” and attach a 10 lb weight to the other end. Then throw it while their victims watch! Step two, do the same to each finger and toes. Problem solved.

I will continue to pray for our men and young girls. We as parents need to really educate our daughters that these older man dont care about you and are out for only one thing. All they are doing is taking advantage of our young girls and stealing their innocence from them. Young girls keep your guards up and dont befriend these guys, they only tell you what you want to hear to get your goodies.
