The people you speak of (who may rob you next week ?? erm OK) have CHOICE

The people in the the disaster zones have nothing. everything has gone, the infrastructure, homes, food, clothing, sanitation and shelter and NO CHOICE.

@bornb – Just so you know…..

If you read the article it clearly states some of the funds were generated from the company’s Staff Benevolent Scheme. This scheme is used to collect funds from staff (as a payroll deduction)on a monthly basis in which the funds are utilized as donations to local charities amongst other charitable works both local and abroad where needed. Conyers supports many local charities on an annual basis, however they do this without the need for public recognition. So just because you don’t read about the assistance provided locally does not mean they don’t do their part in assisting local charities financially.

So now you know!! btw – this is the case for many local businesses.

It’s a good gesture… HOWEVER… it’s amazing how ppl and companies can pool money together so quick for international aid but yet we have our own who need aid and cannot get it. I do have a heart and i know the disaster in the Philippines … alot of money has already been donated from Bermuda. We have ppl on this island who are struggling… agencies have been crying out for help for mths and yrs to help Bermudian families some of there cries are not being heard. There are homes which have NO income. Not but choice but by the recession. Salvation Army have been appealing.. help them!!
Poverty breeds crime so be careful that the person/s you could have helped may be the same person/s who breaks in your house or sticks you up on the street. I am not promoting this behaviour however ppl ned to live, eat, SURVIVE!!
