Photos: St George’s Celebrates New Year’s Eve

January 1, 2014

The inclement weather yesterday [Dec 31] cleared with lots of time for hundreds of New Year’s Eve revelers to make their way to the Town Square in St George’s for music, entertainment, food and the traditional onion drop.

Children had fun throughout the night playing on the blow up slide or running around enjoying themselves with New Year’s Eve toys, stink bombs, loud snaps, bubble blowers, face painting and more. Local entertainers took the stage, while food vendors were kept busy selections of hot food, snacks and lemonade available.

After Mayor Rothwell counted down the onion drop, the crowd made their way onto and over the bridge to Ordnance Island to watch the fireworks display over St George’s Harbour.
