We made two trips to India. Because my wife and I had an interest in potential private business, I personally paid for my entire trip to India, including air fare and hotel expenses. So far, I have not gained any personal business benefits from business in India. Anything else?

How the passage of time reveals so much! I can recall when we took the trips to India. The blogs were full of nasty comments about the “waste of taxpayer funds”, etc.
Here we are a few years later and we are celebrating the India connection!
