Not entirely correct. The area of beach above the high water mark is private.
Everyday you see non-guests walking and running along Elbow Beach below that high water mark. Bermudians and residents alike know their rights, so what is the issue?

Guests pay hundreds of dollars a night to stay at Elbow Beach to enjoy all of the services and amenities on offer, including that section of private beach above the high water mark. There are lots of public beaches in Bermuda to which everyone has full and free access, so why should freeloaders be so intent on gatecrashing private beaches when they pay nothing towards their upkeep – in the case of Elbow Beach this includes seaweed removal, daily beach raking, the provision of loungers, umbrellas and towels for guests, and waiter service, all of which the guests are paying for.

I’m grateful in seeing Elbow Beach Resort re-opening. We wish the very best to you but I must comment on one pertinent point, have you / are you hiring more locals since we do have countless Bermudians with experience in welcoming guest as well as all other departments in the hotel industry?

There is NO *Private* beach. It is public land (between high and low tide marks). All the hotel does is own the land surrounding the beach, NOT the beach itself.

The hotel loses a lot of local goodwill by putting up signs that it is a private beach.
