Only to those who lack the strength to move on and evolve with the rest of society, so long as they can make it about race, they will be able to justify their weakness, for it is always easier to hate. What about the other bulk land re-structuring over the 400 years?
Farmers were moved from lands around
- Belmont Hotel Golf course
- Southampton Princess
- Port Royal golf course
and had to start over.
Basically any large golf course was once houses and farms.
The whole area between Fort Hamilton and the North Shore that was depopulated for military defense of Dockyard, as was a wide swatch around Fort Scaur
Morgans Point was islands owned by farmers; Dockyard too.
It is interesting how we only remember some of this…

The 300 in donations made before the 2012 election, we all want to know about, it wasn’t the public purse.

Term limits had a negative affect on our economy, so was good to remove them.

If people were not paid a fair price (black and white) for their land for the base and Mid Ocean, then show me evidence. We have been offered none. If it can be proven, then there can be grounds for making up the difference to fair value and adjusting it for inflation. To todays $value.

The march was nonsens. There were people there for so many different reasons protesting, when it was suppossed to be a march for democracy regarding the commission.

The PLP is so fragmented, they don’t know what they are marching for.

Now its to be masters of our own domain with promises and promises again. You have to be an idiot to buy into that side show following the PLPs record in that capacity over the last 14 years. Just because you say it loud and passionately doesn’tt make it true.

It really is inconsequential that the Governor is off the island on vacation in London, he has made us aware that he is reading the comments on the blog. And with keen interest so are other foreign interests.

What the march has highlighted is that this blog is being used as a OBA counter-protest. Yes, OBA supporters are protesting against the march – freedom of expression! But whether it is a few under many aliases or a majority of OBA supporters protesting – it is unclear.

Unfortunately, your counter-protest has descended into ridicule, spiked with malicious remarks and spun completely off point. This is about historic social injustices, not spelling mistakes on signs. It’s about seeking a Commission of Inquiry to investigate historic land grabs, not about spinning and gloating PLP supporters into turning it into an issue of race.

If truth must be told the PLP dropped the ball on this issue (land grabs) when they were in power and I for one was seething with anger, and I have written about it on previous blogs. But why now for the PLP can only be answered by the PLP, and I for one, am grateful that they are taking this issue very seriously. And please do not attempt to open the door to your conspiracy theories, OBA supporters, there are enough political theories in Bermuda to fill the chronicles of Roswell!

If not now, when? No time will ever be the ‘right time’ to begin a Commission of Inquiry as it stands juxtaposition against the America’s Cup. Link? They both require funding from the Consolidated Fund. And, in my mind, they both having the equal and unreserved right to be given the full support of all Bermudians, irrespective of race, ethnicity and/or financial worth. And I would like to invite all PRC holders to join in the support of both causes, Bermuda deserves nothing less.

March 19th, 2011 – Junior Environment Minister David Burt told the Senate of Government’s sympathy for descendants of families who were forcibly removed from Tucker’s Town in the 1920s.

However Senator Burt argued it’s now Government’s job to look after the people of today meaning it needs to try to revitalise tourism with the Rosewood Tucker’s Point development.

Anti-racism group CURB had objected to the Special Development Order for the hotel’s expansion, pointing to the history of the site, where dozens of mainly black families were evicted more than 80 years ago in the interests of tourism development backed by Parliament.

Opening yesterday’s debate in the Senate, Sen Burt said Government “hears and understands the cries” of those campaigners.

But he added: “We are unable to undo the past but we can certainly take steps to ensure the future wellbeing of our people.”

Can Someone please Explain why in 2014 the PLP is acting like this is the end of the world when 2011 they did not even bat an eye?????
