What part of the following do readers fail to understand? Yes it’s a small island and yes it is often hard to identify an appropriate vendor that does not have some connection to a company or organization, but BHB did its due diligence in the selection process, as stated by them below:
Saying as a matter of transparency, BHB noted that People’s Pharmacy is operated by relatives of the Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Venetta Symonds and that she is both a Director and minor shareholder of People’s Pharmacy Ltd. The potential conflict of interest was flagged at the beginning of the process, as required by BHB policy and governance. “Mrs Symonds was not involved in any way in the procurement process, and vacated any senior management and Board meetings when the bids were discussed. The successful bid was formally approved by the Board in its June 2014 meeting,” a BHB spokesperson added.”

Although Mrs Venetta Symond’s family name is Pearman, she is not related to Scott Pearman and Mr Pearman has no association at all with the People’s Pharmacy business.

It is true that Venetta and the owner are sisters. If you read the article you can see that was disclosed.Scott Pearman is NOT their brother. FACT CHECK MUCH???? Geesh ! #just throw it out there and see if it sticks!

People’s is my go to pharmacy, however you cant get away from potential conflict of interests in Bermuda. Vernetta Symonds the CEO of BHB is sister to the owner of People’s Pharmacy and Scott Pearman who announced the deal is a brother. It doesn’t get more intertwined than that!! Surely the BHB should use someone else to announce the decision. Awfully strange!! But the BHB is a very secretive operation which I don’t understand since the OBA became the governing party. Strange things went on there when the PLP was in power probably related to a certain premier. Jonathan Brewin, its time to open up this most secretive and ineffective operation. Stop hiding the mess that is KEMH. That is the only way to clean up the mess.

The CEO of Bermuda King Edward. Hospital is an owner of People’s Pharmacy. Her family owns the pharmacy.
