2. The general public will never know all the facts regarding private donations made to any political party or its affiliates, in Bermuda.

I’m pretty sure that most of the companies they work for donate heavily to Bermuda…not to mention that the guy with that fancy degree and 10,000 a month housing allowance is at a level where he is employing many others….many Bermudians.

It kills me when other people that other people’s success “should have been theirs” but they were somehow denied it. You have no idea how that person got to be CEO of that company, nor what struggles and sacrifices they went through to get it. You just assume they went to a fancy school and out pops this great job in Bermuda. There are many Bermudians who have more than worked hard to put themselves in similar positions. There are even young Bermudians working hard to fulfill dreams of owning their own business (just one this week opened a hair salon) and home ownership. So stop this woe is me crap…seriously life is what you make it and if you make it a pity party, then that’s your choice. Despite whatever advantages or disadvantages someone starts out with in life, it’s about the choices we make along the way. The boy born with a silver spoon in his mouth is just as likely to wind up in the gutter if he makes the wrong choice to waste his life on drugs. The boy coming from nothing is equally likely to make a successful life with the right choices. So while not everyone has access to the same exact paths, we all have access to decide how we choose to face life.

“They are elected to stand for democracy”….in a representative democracy, representatives are elected by the people to bring forth their views. By boycotting the HOA, they are in fact doing anything but representing my views! They know full well their little antics of boycotting the HOA is going to do nothing to get the governor recalled. If they want to handle the situation like mature adults, get back to work (the job of representing me!) and then put forth a proper proposal to the governor as clearly stated by the governor what was missing. The PLP is unnecessarily playing with the fragile emotions of people for their own political gain. Many of the folks who I spoke to about the march thought it was a march against the oba, a march for jobs or any other numerous issues other than what it was “supposed” to be about. They are doing nothing but confusing people and trying to stir up anger in the people in a sick attempt to wield power. Sit down and get on with the job you were employed to do. Can you imagine what would happen if I boycott my job for 2 weeks because I didn’t like the tone/attitude of someone in my workplace????

What they should have said was; I have a Bachelor of Science ‘with honours’ or; I have a Bachelor of Arts ‘with honours’. It’s simple stuff if really.

Actually, I looked it up, it is an addition to a regular Bachelors degree, what Yes You Do failed to mention is what degree he/she holds it in. There are many bachelors degrees that are pretty effectively useless in the business world. It may be that the jobs Yes You Do applied for had Canadian candidates that they could have hired, rather than have to try and get a work visa for Yes You Can.

Air conditioning down anywhere along the way?….because …..that would be fairly legit, this isn’t a proper boycott by definition,to me it seems to be like a strike…where you remove your services.Also I believe govt. Agreed completely.

I believe it is a serious over-reaction by the Opposition and that won’t achieve anything.

But as you said it is their right to take any action they see fit as Bermuda and her people do not live under an oppressive regime(s) despite the hyperbole being spewed by some regarding ‘liberating our country’ and the lot. This mindset is a total slap in the face to people who face true oppression from their respective Government’s on a daily basis.

We are just too spoiled to understand.

I don’t know what kind of jobs you were applying for but I doubt that the reason you were not hired was because they wanted Canadians.

And under-educated ex-pats are certainly not hired here (except for service industry jobs which Bermudians don’t seem to want.) The extensive work permit process prevents that.

The PLP have always wanted to be independent of the Governor and his superiors at Whitehall and this Governor acknowledged that by basically saying that Bermuda is self-governing and that this is not a matter for the Crown to decide. He is conceding to your belief in Bermuda’s need for autonomy, and the PLP should be all over it but there is political hay to be made, and hay is priority number one.

Are you serious. I lived in Toronto for 6 years, I have my Ontario Secondary School Diploma and Bachelor of Honors. I was not able to get a job (as a foreigner)because they wanted Canadians, by the way that was about 30 interviews and rejections. In most countries they support their local population first then facilitate the foreigner.

In Bermuda it is difference under educated ex pats are hired and promoted.
