If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything.
I take pride in things that I have accomplished, or helped to accomplish.
Are you willing to take responsibility for our failing tourism product? Since the shorts play such an integral role why is tourism not booming? With these shorts in the foreground we should be able to dismantle the bta and fire the tourism minister. Why waste millions of dollars when we have the shorts leading the charge raising our profile, grabbing media attention and having such a positive Effect marketing bermuda to potential visitors.
Ridiculous.

Bermuda shorts are a profile raiser for Bermuda. Bermuda shorts grab the media’s attention and are instantly recognisable for readers/viewers around the world when they see them in media. You don’t have to like wearing Bermuda shorts to appreciate the positive affect they have on marketing the island to potential visitors.

I also disassociate my self from the so called “bermudian” terms such as “um um”, “mornin’ mornin”, and “chingas”.
This form of illiteracy should definitely not be a source of pride for bermudians. Seems to fit too well with the term “yes masa” for me.
Time for us to come up with some new ideas, something sensible.

The history of Bermuda shorts is in no way tied to ‘some idiot who decided to cut and hem his suit pants’ .

You may hate it but they ARE a cultural icon even if you hate to show you’re knobbly knees and wimpy gams.

This is suppossed to be a source of pride?
One day some idiot decidided to cut and hem his suit pants, and now this great form of ingenuity and creativity is supposed to represent us as a people? Typical approach.
I am sure that thousands have flocked to our shores just to admire the posturing bermudian male species parading around in his pink shorts, in his natural habitat…hoping to be able to snag a pair or two for themselves.
Why not cut the sleeves on the blazer? Maybe that can be our next tourist attraction.
No wonder tourism is lacking, our product is too expensive, and too pretentious, without providing quality for quantity.
Feel free to follow this tradition, and take as a source of pride, something which you had no part in creating.

Great video. Wonderful to have an authentically traditional product for Bermuda. So important to keep the traditions alive. It is o.k that people won’t be seen dead in them. You may not be seen dead in what they like to wear. Good use of locals in this upbeat ad. I hear the only downside to all of this is the cost of the shorts. Might want to consider a less expensive collection for some…just a thought.

We may get a little fun poked at us for our shorts but when we wear them overseas, complete with the blazer, a Bermuda tie, knee socks & docksiders, there is no mistaking who we are & where we are from.

I would not be caught dead in bermuda shorts. They are in no way ‘stylish’ and definitely not part of my tradition.
Luckily for you they are popular with some. You mentioned them bieng on center stage at the winter olympics, but I seem to remember that did not go over too well, with people making fun of the participants. So not so popular with all.
Bermuda shorts do not represent me as a bermudian, never has and never will.
