Hello!!! i’m a stone cutter can provide slate but the planning department is giving me the run around for a permit. I have been cutting slate for 30yrs never needed a permit before, have a permit to excavate a property but planning dept. wants me to give them a whole new set of plans for quarrying. What’s the big deal if I use a fork or stone cutting machines, its the same approved area just a different method of excavation. Hello!!! lets stop the BS, your government quarry can’t supply it so let those that can do the job get on with it. The longer the roofs are open the more it going to cause the insurance companies and people without insurance. I hope the leader of this country will see it fit to weaver this permit in a time of emergency, if they care about the people of Bermuda.

Save the money then. Don’t buy insurance, if you think it’s unfair. But when your roof rips off and you have a $300,000 repair bill, don’t expect other people to come and pay for it.

That’s how deductibles work. If they didn’t exist, insurance companies would be bombarded with piddly claims for every light bulb or lawn chair that blew away during the storm.

I’m sure your insurer would gladly reduce the deductible if you wanted to increase your premium. Sound good? Didn’t think so…

I have no sympathy for people who sign up for things like insurance without having a clue how they actually work.

Insurance is largely a waste of money in most instances. Imagine paying a lifetime and never having to claim, and then when you do claim, you only get a fraction of what you’ve put in if anything at all.

The insurance companies are so civic minded as to not charge a double copay for the two storms but were very quick to tell me that I would have to pay a $2500.00 deductible before I could claim on shutters that were ripped off in the first storm.I am sure that they won’t cost that much but will still be very expensive to replace.One wonders why in the hell we should bother to have insurance that after the amount of payments they have collected from me in the last 30 years if that money had been put out on interest I could have paid for any damage to my home and considering how strong our houses are built major damage is very rare.I realise that the insurance companies have to show a profit but charging that much of a deductible is sinful.They also had the nerve to tell me that my home was underinsured.I wonder what my payments would have been if I had increased it .

How do you secure your slate? The contractor dropped it off in my yard and then moved onto the next job. Its just sitting there and I can’t hide it or lock it up and I work so I can’t protect it either.

“desperate not just for repairs but for survival”. Survival?? Millions of people live and survive without lights or running water on a daily basis. To the priviledged in countries like Bermuda, living without lights and water is an inconvenience.

They should go get a job and buy what they need, just like these people did. No excuse for this kind of behavior. Maybe if they help someone with their repairs, they could get paid, and could then afford to buy what they need.

Folk are desperate not just for repairs but for survival and I think it is crying shame that it has come to this, I don’t think I would go as far as calling them Bastard’s, I will say something I heard my pastors wife speak,unfortunately Bermuda is quickly moving into a day were we will see what use to be hard working class people forced to become criminals in their own country just to survive, sounds far fetch. well that is because there are still those among us who have not been hit hard enough during the economic down turn. there are those that are just out right thieves stealing to support their habit and those who are just habitual thieves, but there are those that of our young community are stealing to support their families.this is a real issue in Bermuda and we don’t want to take our heads out of the sand long enough to deal with it, but it will get worse and we will have to address it eventually, but I still wont go as far as calling them Bastards, when you were born , were you born a Bastard,please look up the true definition and use it in it’s correct content. There is another word with a B, Bernews could I used that without it being axed online. every now and then my old nature comes up and I like to do some mud slinging.
