Instead of buying imported Pine Xmas trees I recommend that families go down to the South Shore beaches and take a nice 6 ft Casurina to decorate as a tree and then discard.

These invasive trees which are invading our beaches and eroding our cliffs would make wonderful Xmas trees and then they could be thrown away and chipped.

I would love to see such a project at a greater national level in a public/private collaboration to see the removal of all introduced and invasive species from all National Parks and replaced with native/endemic species over say, a 10, 20 year period.
