And this week again the idiots at the Corporation spin the wheel to decide how to further anoy people who have to work in the town, the entire running of this city is a game, it is not taken serious by the self proclaimed “engineers” who work there, the Corporation is a drain on our resources and offer no value whatsoever for the money.

Time and time again examples of their inefficiency can be sighted, they are an easy target as the seldom get it right, look at the massive waste of our money that keeps them going and this parking fiasco is the lates in a very long line of questionable business decisions, Benevides, tell us why that on the small section of one way Par La Vill between church and front streets you needed to put up no less than 15 parking signs up! …really? Stupid decisions make your management look like the uninformed and under qualified people you are, I vote for clearing out city hall from the mayor on down and get someone in there who has a clue on how to run a city.

RED CARPET.

The Nickel and Dime parking policy stains the RED CARPET,with out doubt a nuisance tax which deters people from coming into the city to do business, no wonder businesses fail as many can’t pay their way.

We are still in a recession and will be for years.

To prove the point many businesses owners set up out side of the city.

I am surprised our offshore companies who usually park long term don’t complain, no wonder some pack up and leave. Many shop on line.

Standing in the rain punching for a ticket is particularly annoying to find the toy is out of order.

How many times do we have to tell you “go up” to enlarge Bulls Head long term parking and provide a city buss service utilizing the trains or tour buses etc.

Are we still serving food on the sidewalk ?

Install a second fire siren in city hall tower to clear the City street traffic !

I guess our suspicions are confirmed by this latest move by COE. The Mayor isn’t really the in charge, and he certainly does not call the shots. Not much of a leader is he? When those in lesser positions defy the decisions of the entire committee, then break the law by removing signs, cost the City hundreds in dollars in excess labour charges, and are punished by getting exactly what he wants, we know who the puppet is and who is pulling he strings.

Shame on the Mayor and the entire CH group for showing everyone that when you do wrong over and over again, your punishment is getting exactly what you want. I started to question the integrity and real intentions of this group some time ago. I respected many of them at first but those feelings are now gone. Sadder yet is that most the good ones will be outset in the next election in order to make way for more bullies.

@animallover–I agree, went tom hamilton yesterday, there were so many empty parking spots, even on court street, I was afraid to park, didn’t see anywhere I could get an hour voucher in rea, too bad businesses are losing because of parking,..smdh—if there is no meter to spit out vouchers than there should only be hour parking without vouchers for the stores especially in back of town..Hopefully more people will do business outside of hamilton in the future…. mkes no sense to invite us to shop than smack a fifty dollar fine or that nasty yellow clamp!! things are so threatening, where is friendly Bermuda , surely we can think of other less publicly penal ways of increasing revenue or at least stay afloat!! don’t forget to offer free parking in December if you want any business, if not, welll can just go outside hamilton or on-line

Next COH need to do something about the all day parking rate at the Cavendish parking lot! If you are unlucky enough to work at the eastern end of town and use this parking lot as it is convenient, you will pay about $15.00 per day for the privilege!
I have called COH on a couple of occasions to see if they would consider dropping the rates but they have no intention of doing so!

During these times of hardship too bad the Corporation doesn’t lower parking fees to entice people to come into Hamilton rather than send them packing, kinda stupid isn’t it? I think it is outrageous that they want $1 an hour for parking within the city, hope more stores open on a Sunday, that’s when I’ll go to shop. Is this all because these Corporation people want to receive a regular paycheck?

I imagine that the situation in City Hall is very difficult. The Mayor has been heard to say that he isn’t the only Mayor of Hamilton… signs point to a dysfunctional state of affairs in that municipality with real and regular power struggles being waged by the members of that Corporation.

I propose that all parking in Hamilton be made free . I say that every business owner and resident of Hamilton be given the right to vote . Lost parking revenue can be recouped from increased city taxes , city rents and a portion from every vehicle licensed through TCD . Every city worker whether they drive , ride or catch the bus could opt to instead of giving to the union or charity , pay corporation of Hamilton dues and be eligible to vote in city elections .

People need to be more defiant and not give in to people who try hold us hostage- glad people refuse to park in certain places- if I worked in town I would refuse to pay any more money to the Coorporation of Hamilton. I would park so far out of town even if it took me half an hour to get into the city- just to make a point!!

One can only assume it is perfectly ok for us to take the rest of the parking signs down without fear of prosecution??? Just amazes me with who gets away with what in this island???? I say they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!!!!
