Where are the woman? There are many women on this island that represented Bermuda on many occasions and have never been recognized (wow). (Softball) Diane Hunt, Earlene Wilkinson, Ellen Kate Horton. (Tennis) Donna Bradshaw, Kim Simmons. (Netball) Marva Trott, Debbie Saltus. (Track) Sonia Smith, Debbie Jones etc. Come on give these women their due, they have helped contribute to the growth of sports in Bermuda, not just the men.

It was a fantastic event indeed. To see Matthew Moreno accept the aware on behalf of his grandfather brought tears to my eyes. To see Jeff Sousa bawl and accept on behalf of his father George Sousa was beautiful, and to see the new Voice of Summer Sean Tucker give such an amazing speech to present the award to Jim Woolridge just topped off an awesome night. So glad to have been there. Well Done !!!

Having such a building in the vicinity of the National Sports Centre would make good sense, although I’m sure there may be other good locations, if the funding is available.

There is always complaints about spending money etc. but a Modest Sport Hall of fame would be an excellent example out there for young people and may help to steer people away from some of the negative behaviours etc.

I feel that the current government with their strong IB links could raise significant funds for this cause and several families such as the Butterfield’s, Coopers, etc. would surely be interested in this.

Bermuda and our sporting heroes deserve a location for their accomplishments to be recognized, so those dedicated to music and the arts, perhaps a joint initiative could be considered. second and third floors of city hall are quite nice…….

This was a fabulous event. The speeches were heart warming and very moving. I learned a lot and am very grateful to have been invited to attend. Bermuda has an amazing heritage and some truly amazing people. We should have more of these events. Congratulations to all.

@ Nicky: It’s true, there are quite a few women who are rightfully deserving of such recognition. People like Ms. Donna Bradshaw who’d received a Queens Badge of Honour for her accomplishments in not just local, but the world of tennis.

This was a wonderful event. The speeches were heartfelt and very moving by all. Learned a lot and grateful to be in attendance. Bermuda has such a rich heritage and some amazing people. We need more events like this one.

It had placed tears in my eyes when seeing them that were selected for their contribution to our / Bermudas History of Sports Hall of Fame…But most of all was that voice of summer, it’ll never be forgotten and most definitely missed at all top local cricket matches for years to come
