To Shari-Lynn Pringles: I observe your comments on FB and social networks, regarding derelict buildings and houses, I can’t help but wonder why you put so much emphasis on something which don’t directly concern you. Why do you contuniously degrade these properties which obviously probably have family issues hence why they stand untouched. Here’s a suggestion for you: call the families and tell them that you will pay for demolition or renovations. Until then, keep your nose out of other people’s properties!!!!

One does not need to have plans approved for a new building before the old building is removed unless is is part of the permit.IE DEMO OLD CONSTRUCT NEW.However some persons do have a plan(s) for a site beforehand.Not sure in this case.One thing for sure is that piece of road is safer now than before.Great job Island Construction.

Raynors Hall, back in the day one of the private movie theatres. I see the Raynor descendants are going to do something with this property. It was so sad to see it so derelict. More power to the Raynor Family.

Bernews it would be nice if you could do a follow up on this story and give it’s back ground history, i am not got all the information but this use to be one of our theaters back in the day, and the whites grocery stores, I believe their proprietors first began in that building, and I think that building was a part or the Raynors empire.

Thank you Jason and Bernews for providing this. One eyesore down, so many more to go. Does one have to have planning permission ie: plans for something to go in its place before the building can be torn down? ClayHouse and the old hotel on Reid Street come to mind.
