Absolutely Cow Polly, Everyone will need to adapt to the new normal. No money means no money.The sooner we all realise that, the sooner we can begin to heal. Lots more cutting to come… But there are still people who think the world it flat so lets move on with those that get it.

This has zero to do with flu season. If there is a terrible illness going around that has forced half an entire work force out why wasn’t there any heads up for flu put out this year. Every year there has been but not this year and suddenly everyone is sick? I don’t buy it one bit and it stinks of vengeance.

This is but a glance into the future. The Government is broke and the suggestion of continued furlough days was rejected by the Unions. Well the Government is still broke so its got to reduce expenses elsewhere. We, the public, better get used to reduced services and the Government workers better get used to not expecting overtime to supplement their salaries. Next will be one trash pick up instead of two per week.

Absolutely right GB! You are right on the money there.Their 14 years of fumbling have put us on a collision course with reality. The busses , recycling centre, ag show, fleeing ib. All due to incompetence and could’nt care less attitudes.Hopefully the 100+ IQ people of whom you speak can somehow save whats left – but its going to be slow and painful. Its how life works in the real world.

Some of you locals had better learn how to “fish-or-farm”… Because eventually there will be NO more tourists and the IB sector will get so frustrated with these conditions – that they shall look for “greener pastures” and find them as well!!

If the problem is due to lack of bodies to sit in the seats and from a safety standpoint, I am surprised people are making such comments. You reach a tipping point for safety having the remaining drivers do more and more hours in a day, they will end up exhausted.

That lack of rest will lead to more accidents and incidents as well as possible more sickness as they get burned out. I wouldn’t want to be or have my children on a bus where the driver is exhausted or the bus not maintained.

It appears the cancellations have been thought out so as not to drastically impact the commuters and some of the school runs overlap regular service, which will still be available for the students to use.

People need to remember the service runs from 6am until midnight. Privatization may have a more negative impact by reduction in service if they cannot afford to pay overtime or sustain the existing schedule or to maintain the fleet…no guarantee it will solve the shortage in drivers due to sickness.

I’m hoping that the mechanics are making use of these cancellations to get ahead in the maintenance and repair schedules. I’ve seen a couple of downed buses in the West over the past couple of weeks.

you should have to do an IQ test for any future government elections. That way, if you are too stupid to vote sensibly, your dumb vote cannot vote in a stupid party who will ruin our island!

Also making this hard are the furlough days – the drivers are still having to complete furloughs for March so those out do not have there runs going too. just pay straight time to those that want to work!

I have seen numerous “driver in training” buses up and down for the last couple of days. Hopefully this won’t go on for too much longer.
