I GIVE UP…. Are half the Island’s vehicle operators driving DWI or DUI most of the time?? The mind “boggles” at the amount of UNNECESSARY accidents – when you have a “speed limit” of only 20-25 MPH!!

Someone please explain to me why…. Day after day – after day – there are all these accidents!!

what about the damage that these tankers are causing to our roads do you remember when those dumpsters were goign thru st georges taking rubble and stuf from holiday inns after it was demolished houses were seen to have cracks, roads were getting messed up who needs that and after much complaining I didn’t see any of those dumpsters on the road for a long time and of course, we know who allowed them to come in whistle if you can

This is a major gripe of mine. It isn’t Government who fix Palmetto Road, it’s the civil service. They are the ones screwing things up.

Similarly, it ain’t the Government who aren’t policing, it’s the police.

The rest is right though.

Today I had a Truck, one of the smaller tankers, come hurtling up behind me, and then tailgated me all the way from Scaur Hill to The Reefs. Scary. I was following a car which was veering onto the verge on the left and then into the lane on the right. I had bikes overtaking on blind corners, I had one jerk who flew by me on the inside, and I had a suicidal fool who overtook the pink taxi on Trimingham Hill just as I was coming in the other direction. We have bikes riding along sidewalks because it’s rider is too damn lazy to follow the road.

So where are the police while all this is happening? Issuing freaking tickets to people who don’t put their foot down at a stop sign.

In my experience the people who drive the big trucks are the best drivers on the island. They kind of have to be.

Sorry, but that is a bit of a ridiculous overreaction, both of those trucks are of a common size and dimension that have been in use on the island for many years. In fact both would be smaller than a container hauler. By your train of thought, we should get rid of anything with wheels off the roads, as cars and bikes are the cause of more accidents and traffic issues that trucks.

We have an average of 1 road accident for every 35 people on island as of 2012. That is way too much! I’m sure it is still around that too. We need actual enforcement of traffic laws from the Bermuda Police Service(as well as them setting examples when they are driving). That would be a good start.

Scoalsy, Just yesterday I had to deal with a Bermuda police car, coming head on at me, halfway in my lane, because they couldn’t be bothered with yielding(as the law says to do when an obstruction is in your lane). Instead, he opted to overtake the cyclist illegally, and endanger me. I have observed many other situations where the police either violate traffic laws themselves or ignore violations happening right in front of their face. Until the Police service decides to uphold and enforce the traffic laws, your best bet is to be very attentive and drive defensively.

I have noticed lately that bikes, cars, busses, heavy trucks are all flying around!
SLOW DOWN PEOPLE! Especially large vehicles. You cant continue to bully your way into my lane. You’re gonna kill someone.
And the multiple road works aren’t helping. Come on Govt get Palmetto Road fixed already!
And please people use your damn indicators.

Why would you deliver equipment on North Shore at 8am? Traffic is bad enough as it is. That looks like a trailer and that means the deck of the trailer is somewhere blocking the road to unload equipment.

To much speeding
I do between 45 and 50 K (speeding) and trucks, bikes, cars and even Buses pass me as if i were stopped, I’m not surprised there there isn’t more deaths from bikers the way they ride and pass people, the law need to be more sticker with punishment, not just fines but take their license also, and if they get caught riding while they are off the road LOCK them up it would be for their own good as well as others.

Just one look at the photo’s speaks for itself,W&E(Government Vehicle) and a Container hauler(Private Vehicle). Government worker mad at private sector, because no money in Government but private sector still making money. So why not beat up on the private sector so they can feel the crunch also.
