This cruise line has an average cost of $5000-7500 cost per person for 6-10 days cruises. I’m sure the 13 day which included Bermuda was more. So a trip for two would have been over 15K, not including airfare. I noticed a lot of big families on the docks, so I’m guessing vacations at $40 k plus is normal for this ship.

Perhaps the front street merchants would like to arrange private shopping nights for them. You’re think right? Ship arrived and front street was closed, 5p sharp.

You make it sound like it is a rusting banana boat or something. This ship is a luxury ship. It might not be a brand new ship but is is kept in immaculate shape and is not about to be sent to the scrap yard. I agree that there are not many small ships around, but they do exist and this is one of them, run by a successful cruise line. The BTA team were on board this weekend, no doubt to acquaint themselves with the crew. Getting a smaller ship here more often is indeed a challenge, but if they slightly widen the Town Cut and possibly in Hamilton too, we will have better options going forward. It is on the discussion table right now. Will people be resistant to the idea, as they were before? I hope not, we either move with the times or go the way of the dodo.

That’s not true. Ships like this have very affluent passengers on board. This is a luxury ship, not a big mega ship that fills its cabins at discount rates. Please understand the difference. This is exactly the kind of ship that is needed on a regular basis in Hamilton and then head down to St. George’s. The passengers that come on this kind of ship would be the type of tourist that if they had a positive experience here in Bermuda, might return and stay on island in the future. Possibly during the America’s Cup. Please think.

Ships likw this and others bring zero dollars to public.

Saw the BTA team boarding this ship last night. I imagine they are keen to have Silver Seas cruise line return more frequently and are forging better relations with them.

Please stop with the small ship talk. This is one of only a few,and it is very old. Why would you want to invest in scrap metal in 5 years times. And that if this ship hangs around that long.

It’s a good site seeing the cruise ships in Hamilton again. Reminds me of when I was a kid.
