I agree with you stunned; and it’s unfortunately he (or someone using his name) came on here to further the attacks (even though it was his right to). I think as Mr. Holdipp who has HIS own views; people are tired of others who assume they represent us ALL. I have NO problem with one airing their views but to portray that YOUR views are EVERYBODYS; or worst off a selected bunch “True Bermudian”, sets one up for attacks.
If you have a view state it; but don’t try to fool people that these are the views of ALL black, white green or purple people?
These are JUST your views.

I have to agree with “stunned” about those bloggers who are throwing insults at Mr. Holdipp, Alvin Williams and all those who express contrary views. I happen to strongly disagree with Mr. Holdipp’s views and with Alvin Williams comments on this blog, and will say so emphatically, but I respect the fact that we all have varying views on practically every issue, and we live in a free society where we all benefit from hearing and understanding the views of everyone, even when they might be a very small, or even minute minority.

i am surprised and disappointed to note that bloggers have chosen to resort to hurling insults at Mr. Holdipp. i have read many a post of some of the more prolific bloggers here and know that they can express an opinion or two about a topic. so to see a trend where a person is attacked rather than his ideas is akin to the degradation of the behaviour seen in the House of Parliament. i don’t happen to share all of Mr. Holdipp’s views but i don’t have to insult him personally. we are better than that.

Yes, we all have our own opinions and this comment section allows for us to share those with others and we don’t all have to agree with each other.

What gets me is that when I was a 21 year old construction worker, I voted UBP not because of the promises of the UBP but the lack thereof. I asked many of my peers, “Yes, the PLP have given us many elaborate and exquisite promises, but how are we going to pay for all of it?”. Yes the PLP made good on their promises, but at what cost? As the years went by the promises started getting taken away and the global economy tanked bringing us with it.

What gets me is how a 21 year old construction worker can predict this but non of our well educated politicians???? Common sense much?

I happen to share exactly the same concerns as Mr. Holdup about the need for my fellow Bermudians to have the first opportunity in regard to jobs, houses and land in our own country. I also agree with him that “a financial drain with no stopper has been attached to Bermuda.” That is the best description I’ve ever heard of the financial disaster that existed in Bermuda when the OBA came into office 2 years ago. Tragically, the former Government seemed to completely ignore the financial disaster taking place around them and left us in such huge debt that whichever political party is now in power, the coffers are empty and we have a huge debt to service.

I would be very interested in hearing Mr Holdipp’s reaction to the clear warnings that Larry Burchall has been giving us about our economy and what needs to be done to get us out of this gigantic hole. Perhaps Mr. Holdipp will invite Mr Burchall to speak at any meetings he organizes so that public can hear just where we now stand, when the hole was excavated, and what we need to do to get out of it.

I would also be interested to know just exactly who will NOT be anchored to Bermuda by their status papers. Let’s take, for example a born Bermudian married to an expat with “status papers” who have children, or grandchildren. It might be more than a little ironic to note that practically every leader of the PLP married an “expat” . The only exception I can think of has never been married. Are these spouses of former leaders the people Mr. Holdipp is referring to?

I am Bermudian and this joker thinks he speaks for me. Who is he? What are his qualifications? Why wasn’t he protesting the ridiculous largesse under the PLP?

I am in my country, several generations worth, and unlike those that rant about the OBA only being for business and not giving a damn about the common Bermudian, and selling this country out from ‘born Bermudians’. I understand the very simple truth, the OBA are trying to promote business in this country because business is what employs hard working and honest Bermudians, and big business is what employs Bermudian business and hard working and honest Bermudians. So what the OBA is really trying to do is create an environment where every hard working and honest Bermudians and Bermudian businesses can once again thrive in and have a chance at ownership of.
My question to you has always been, is why weren’t you protesting and fighting against the PLP, when they were and have been the only ones in our history to fully set us on a course to selling this island out to foreign creditors, and would have kept on that course to the even worse state of being owned by the IMF.

I find it so pathetic that the bulk of you hide behind isms. I am curious why you are in this country in the first place. Is it because you cannot make a livable wage in your homeland? I mean really, you chastise me for my concern for Bermudians both present and future.
