Randy is good in my book – I have known him for many years and he is a very decent and kind man and active in our Community. Bean is not even a shadow of Randy and needs to be sent home with a butt whooopin’!

Abstaining on this vote means they are supporting Bean’s actions – hands down and are scared to speak out – get a set of *****!

It is the responsibility of the Speaker to maintain order. If there has been consistent behaviour by any member warranting a suspension, that there hasn’t been one is a failure of the Speaker.

A motion of censure serves more as a record or humiliation. However, it has less weight when used against a member of the Opposition, as Government MPs are in the majority and could pass a motion of censure against any Opposition MP at any time. It’s much more weighty when applied to a Government MP, especially a Minister, or the Speaker. Usually a motion of censure against a Minister or Speaker would lead to their resignation.

I can’t tell you how many times I have thought or spoken the same thing. I particularly wonder what Paula Cox must think when she is alone with her private thoughts, considering the part she played in this country’s demise.

It’s time for all of us to accept that what we have now is NOT the PLP it once was and for whom many of us had high hopes for as a government back in the day. Those that claim to be PLP for life need to take a close look at what they are committing themselves to and take an honest look at what the party has become.

Also, while we’re here reflecting, if the OBA is constantly being referred to by some as the OBA/UBP because of prior UBP members that are now a part of that party, why isn’t the PLP now the PLP/UBP?

The OBA may have their flaws, but do we honestly believe that putting the PLP back in power will be our salvation? We are certainly caught between a rock and a hard place!

The timing is perfect. Disgraced and suspended from Parliament and the following week before the courts to answer charges for an alleged outburst of a similar nature or worse than in the House. This shows bean’s character perfectly, though the PLP still find it appropriate to publicly support him. How can anyone justify this kind of foul behaviour? It now reflects on the whole of the PLP and not in a good way. I can only imagine what people within the party are saying and the division that is taking place. When will the charade end? The glue is beginning to become unstuck for all to see.

While you are correct in that they both spoke well, the two of them are the reason we are in such a state now. They oversaw the uncontrolled spending spree that the whole of Bermuda is paying for now and for the next 50 years. Dislike if you want but that is the truth. The numbers back me up. It is an inconvenient truth for all of us. But at least with Bean he is not controlling the spending.

I have said it before…and i’ll say it again…let us hire politicians from overseas…are we do apathetic…are we as stupid as to accept the droll we endure these days…personally i am sick and tired of govt tendering out work that we can do…our electricity should be coming from hydrogen solid fuel cell…manufactured from usage of hyydro electric power sun and wind…Holland is doing this NOW!Our govt. Are our employeez…that is their job description!…and yet…and yet they tender out construction work…let us tender out their vocation…see how they like it….where is eighteen million dollars?If we don’t like their behaviour …we send them home…threatening behhaviour be unnacceptable…i don’t take kindly to threat myself…and i am from varrick….it requires quelling.

Just ask any lawyer from the big firms how they are doing today compared to say 2010. They would smile and say “Just fine thanks”. The law firms are BUSY. That means structures are being set up and business conducted.

It takes a couple of years for the seeds being sown now to sprout. They will, as long as a calamity doesn’t happen….like the PLP getting back in power again.

That is just it though, a motion to censure in itself it just plain pointless unless it carries some weight of penalty. We have seen some of the worst behaviour in the HoA in the last couple years than there has been in the last couple decades, at at the Center of it in almost every instance has been Mr. Bean, and it is glaringly obvious, just now, but throughout their history, the PLP will not speak out against their leaders for fear of exposing that there is actually division in their ranks.
They maintain this illusion of unity, but it is there, everyday, at the very core, a division, primarily based on the incompatibility of right and left wing ideologies, and the egos that that lead these ideologies, and only reason they hold together is for the pursuit of political power with their combined voting bases. At this stage, everyday the PLP put up this illusion, they are only continuously misleading the public and their voter base.
So yes, a penalty had to be implemented, because if we waited for the PLP to acknowledge and take action on their own ranks, we would have a better chance building a new airport out of the loose change in our couches.

Mr. Bean has been one of the most bold, outspoken straight up politicians Bermuda has ever seen who is not afraid to stand up for truth and not afraid to go against the status quo. Such traits in a Black man have always invoked insults, fear mongering and mockery particularly for those who can’t handle truth. History has shown it time and again.

By the way can someone please break down using critical thinking rather than emotive reaction, in honest bite sized pieces what is untrue about Nana Peggy’s sign who was insulted as the crazy lady on this board? Do you know her? She has a wealth of knowledge many here will never be able to touch. And only conscious minded people understand the deep historical pathologies of her message which doesn’t make it ‘racist’ as some would like to think it is as a convenient way to attack. If you dare to step back with a wider lens, her sign is an inconvenient truth many here in this society are terrified to face. You see if Bermuda continually refuses to understand these deep seeded racial pathologies that drive our broken system of institutionalized racism and Black disenfranchisement on this tiny island which is also driving the dysfunctionality of our politics today with all the divisivness and polarization, expect more of the same or worse in this powder keg of a ‘polite’ society.

There are two Bermudas and it shows on this board and other places. Why is that? Let’s take our head out of the sand for once and have some true honest dialogue now on racial matters. It’s all connected folks like it or not and rears its ugly head in all sorts of ways. I mean we cannot even mention the word race anymore without powerful censoring coming at you in a heartbeat. And for those who think that systemic racism is not part of the issue if there are Black on Black situations or confrontations, think again. It’s all part of the sick historical pathlogy. I truly think that people actually believe that purposely not addressing race matters in Bermuda means the problem just goes away. Dream on. Race only gets addressed now (still barely) when crap hits the fan, not just in Bermuda but other places as well. I put the challenge out there to prove me wrong.

@hmmmm—If you listned to the HOA you would have heard and understood that whilst Mr. bean was trying to respond to the censor motion , he was continually disrupted by the speaker and some on the other side from explaining why nhe made disparaging” comments which bought about the censorship, ..If you listened to the HOA you would have heard again a fumbling speaker who could not explain under what regulation, policy or parliamentary proceedure that this motion of censor by the ruling power exists through a vote, ONLY THE SPEAKER CAN SUSPEND ANYONE FROM PARLIAMENT< not the opposition or ruling power through a vote, it is unheard of and has never taken place in our parliamentary proceedures, so the opposition plp abstain so that it would not appear that they participated in a FLAWED process! SEEMS the SPEAKER was at great pains to explain himself and quite frankly he did not do a good job, citing the west indies as his guide is ludacris!!!!we live in BErmuda and when it comes to the law and proceedures under legislative rule "WE ARE AOTHER WORLD" you just cannot say, i checked out what another island was doing so i think I will just implement it! and the oba know very well that the exercise was not legit! thats why mr. Pettingill will not respond.

The speaker of the house in this great travesty carried out by the OBA government in carrying on it;’s censure motion of the opposition Leader; attempted to play the role of the Roman governor Pontius Pilate who presided over the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ; when it was pointed out to him that only the speaker can order to suspend an elected member of the house. Like Pilate the speaker sort to wash his hands of the deed claiming that it was not up to him and thus allowing the OBA government to carry out the dastardly deed since they had the numbers in the house to do so. The PLP political opposition was right not to vote on this farce allowing this government’s maliciousness to be fully exposed before the people. This is the some total of their rule of law; resting on pillars of injustice.

I have no issue with a motion of censure if members believe his behaviours warrant it. I am concerned only with a motion of censure which includes a clause for the suspension of said member, which to me is contrary to the rules and a worrying precedent.

This raises questions. Did the other PLP MP’s (two of which are lawyers)know that their leader had in his possession information that he felt could be useful to the police. If so, did they agree with his plan?
Did Marc plan on passing this information on to them, whether he was suspended or not?
