Forgot to mention kudos to Anthony Santucci from CADA and the Bermuda Police Service for their excellent work at trying to keep underage drinking from taking place at Horseshoe during Beach Fest! We should be doing this at every event!! Senator Jeff Baron, Premier Dunkley, you have kids so you understand! We need to take this as an extremely serious national epidemic and stop underage drinking (which is absolutely rampant in Bermuda!!!!) Please just raise the drinking age to 21 like the U.S. and enforce the heck out the the law!!! Keep up the police presence and enforcement so that our young kids (under 18) stop binge drinking and either dying on our roads, or doing crazy, stupid, dangerous things! One example was the young girl and boy at Cup Match! Allowing underage kids to drink causes cognitive impairment, dangerous behavior, poor judgement and a much higher chance of addictions as they get older! Please stop the stupidity with one swipe of your hands during the House!!!!

Honestly, we have a National Drinking Epidemic here in Bermuda! It is NOT acceptable to drink as much as we do here. I don’t know the exact stats but I believe our national average of alcoholism is higher than most other places. I have three teens/young adults and it has been a nightmare to raise them here despite doing all the right things since they were born!! I never drank, always taught them about the poison effects of over-drinking, etc, etc, etc.. But, peer pressure drags them in! They all just constantly get drunk and often blackout drunk! It is terrifying as a parent. We should not allow this kind of out of control drinking behavior (which often starts around 15-16) and never seems to end. “It’s a cultural” thing in Bermuda is the wrong answer! We need to stop it! We need to raise the drinking age to 21 and STRICTLY enforce it! WE need to could together as a country and stop accepting that Bermuda is a drunk culture and that it’s okay! It’s not okay!!!!

also the high sugar content in most rum, and mixed drinks lead to diabetes. Heavy drinking is what fuels high profits for these manufactures.
