In fairness, PGA cost approx $26M and brought in est. $30M. AC35 will cost $50-$74M depending on how much sponsorship in found and is est. to bring in $250M. The multiplier for the PGA is poor and the Auditor General’s Port Royal Report did not cover the island with glory.

Boats cannot watch the concert. The AC45 catamarans will be moored in Hamilton harbour off the number 1 car park so police boats will be keeping people away. You can listen for free I guess but you just won’t be close enough to see anything.

Ray, all I said was the Party is not free! The Party is for residents to feel good about the money the Government is risking on AC. Most residents pay taxes in one form or another to the Government. The Party is not free and residents need to support AC in hopes those monies you refer too do come into Bermuda. All Bermuda taxpayers have an investment in AC.

Compare what visitor spending was last October with what it will be after this October. Tourism, sporting and cultural events funding has never been about bringing in revenues to Government, it has been about bringing revenues in to the economy as a whole. It’s the taxpayers that will benefit from this as people come here to spend on our services, that in turn spend those monies on other services and payroll, that in turn spend those monies on other services and payroll… and so on and so on.

The Front Street Bermuda Festival zone will be open to all, but I believe the #1 parking lot Fan Zone will have an admission, and this is where the concert will be taking place. I can only speculate at how these will be separated but my thoughts are that the Fan Zone may be closed after the Dock Show to prep for the concert, and that the Fan Zone will be tented so they could close off viewing from the Front Street Zone during the concert.
