Same PLP government that left the police without contract over 2 years if I remember. Given that it took nearly 3 months for the BPA to respond to the government about contract negotiations... this could have been resolved sooner. The government has to have their next budget soon, stalling to try and avoid the inevitable cuts doesn't help the case, not to mention that the BPA executive seems to be itself in turmoil on these negotiations. Less or no cuts for the lower wage jobs, offset by higher cuts to the higher wage positions with short term overtime at regular time for a set amount of overtime hours with regular OT for hours passed those.

When you sign on a Police officer you sign on for a schedule that is horrendous to the rest of us...but you DO know what you are getting into. For most of us, sure, you could NOT pay us enough but the Police are well paid, get extremely good benefits and don't have to bear any cost for health insurance...and thats just the start. The BPS members do NOT have a tough job...the vast majority of the time its probably borderline boring. Furthermore half of the force is there because they probably can't get a job at home..Frankly I think all this complaining and low morale is a joke...almost as much as this ridiculous 'suicide disease' which MOIGHT raise its head somewhere but please tell me what drives these dudes to suicide in Bermuda...boredom ???

"Mr Roban said, “The Bermuda Progressive Labour Party understands the important service that the members of the Bermuda Police Association provide to the public and their concerns over potential cuts that they have been faced with."

Is this the same police force that the PLP insinuated was in league with the governor to force a colonial dictatorship over us?
