I all was involved in the accident, u bermudian people r pathetic fr, just think about it wen its your bie or nephews under a car regardless if we was speeding or not though we shouldn’t haven’t been towing n all that other stuff, stop acting innocent we all do things we ain’t suppose to do.. Unfortunately “non-life threatening” does not preclude a lengthy hospital stay and rehab. Who’s to pay? Most likely all of us eventually even if the parents have health insurance. I wonder how many are disabled from accidents which don’t make it to the news.

Bermuda & the people there are beautiful. Let’s try & slow down. Come to a complete stop. Look both ways. You know use common sense. All I read is accidents & injuries. As a visitor, I would never rent a bike but even the buses I’ve been on you have to hold on to for dear life. Just be careful & pray for a speedy recovery.

It was announced that the Auxiliary Bicycles [No. 2] Act 2009 will come into force on April 1st, 2010. From then on, a ‘Bermuda Youth License’ will be issued to 16 and 17 year olds after they complete the Project Ride program. The Youth Licence has restrictions:

Not permitted to ride an auxiliary cycle with a passenger
Not permitted to drive on the roads between 1:00am and 5:00am. o how iz it 2 17 year old on a bike together.

The main reason is how people drive, we cant blame the roads. Negligent and careless of their lives and others. Laws should be enforced to combat this serious problem. I fear every time I drive in Bermuda. Therefore you must take even more caution when driving.

18 is the age limit for a motorcycle, the driver will now be charged with driving while disqualified by reason of his age. For that bike to do that much damage to a CRV he must have been doing some serious speed.

I am glad to hear that the injuries suffered by these young men are not life threatening, and I hope for their swift recovery. Looking at the photos and the degree of damage to the car, it does however appear that excessive speed may well have been a factor. In addition, if the ages of the young men (both 17) has been correctly reported, my understanding of the law in Bermuda is that they should not have been riding pillion.

Thank God my Mobylette wasn’t high powered and capable of more than 50Kph. I actually had an ‘accident’ at 50Kph and the damage was minimal, names/addresses exchanged, no police, no insurance necessary.

Yes I agree with NO Nonsense pray for the young men, but people are so cold hearted to dislike positive comments. They need to be prayed for also. We as Bermudians need to stick together more and look out for the youth. Also for ALL the negative people out there God doesn’t sleep you all would be the first ones to call on him when your in need of help. Just because it’s not your turn of need know that one day it will. May God be with you when that day comes for you!!!!!!

The only thing that will stop these bad accidents is some common sense when people operate a car or bike. We live in a place that is only 21 miles long and can go end to end in an hour. Everyday people are speeding and overtaking just for the sake of not being behind someone. I am surprised there is not a person killed everyday if you look how people drive. It only takes a split second for something to go wrong and than your gone, or worse you have killed an innocent person. Slow down and enjoy the ride , we live in a beautiful place .

Sympathy is appropriate where sympathy is due but how about if these two were speeding? What if they were trying to overtake the car right at the stop line? What if they did not stop at all? What if they did not even look? What if they did not take into consideration for the weight on the bike & steepness of the hill?

All of those what ifs are rider error. Nobody else. Who deserves the sympathy? Not the bike driver. The innocent & shaken car drivers deserve sympathy.

Actually, the sight line is deceptively clear at rhis junction. In actuality, the sight only becomes clear once you reach a certain point on the hill. However, they, coming down the hill, would’ve been advantaged from a visibility standpoint. But going up the hill, you almost have to reach Cobbs Hill Road before you can see traffic comibg from town.

In this case that’s exactly whar happened. A lot of bikers make decisions without seeing (or even looking for) the whole picture. They overtook someone who was about to turn over the hill from Four Ways side and failed to see the car turning over the hill from Warwick Academy side. It only takes a moment of misjudgement or miscalculation… My prayers go out to them, the driver, and rhe families.

The fact that the pillion passenger was “catapulted some 20 feet, landing over a wall on the Warwick Workman’s Club property” might indicate that speed had a lot to do with it.

Tired of people on this island wearing blinders. There is no way someone is thrown 20 ft and another trapped under a vehicle and say they weren’t speeding. If everyone was using care caution and courtesy we wouldn’t have these incidents. However this is something bermuda has lost years ago so here we go.
